"Teams that depend on their running game typically get upset a few times a year by an inferior opponent who might hit a few big plays, and then they aren't equipped to overcome that unexpected deficit. That was why it was so important for me to develop our passing game."

I dispute that that describes LSU.

Well in college it seems to work because the inequality of talent.

It clearly does not work when the other team has just about as much talent.

I don't think LSU loses to inferior teams. I think they lose to tough teams. And they're recently not as good as we believe them to be, even running the ball. Not only that, the real issue is losing to Bama, which basically blows the season and deflates the shite out of everything.

Also we don't pass well.

LSU is recruiting the wrong type of QB for the system they want.

We need an accurate passer, doesn't have to be a "huge" arm, football IQ and get the ball to the playmaker's.

The exact type that Bama runs out there every year.

Can't disagree. You need a pass game, the man was years ahead in his philosophy offensively

I think Arkansas qualifies as an inferior team. Ole Miss may as well.

Bill Walsh could lose five games a season and still win championships... Wonder who has the higher winning percentage - Miles or Walsh?

Both, at the time we played them, were better than us.

I'd say football has changed since Walsh started with the 49ers. Back then, it was definitely an advantage to be able to throw it the way they did...against teams with bigger and slower DBs because the majority of teams were built to run it and stop the run.

I don't think LSU's style is any more susceptible than a team that throws it and can't run it. Being one dimensional obviously is a disadvantage compared to a team that can do both.

He ran his rb into the Heisman. 40 plus carries for the last 5 games.

Who are the idiots downvoting this?

The people who cannot see the problems that LSU has and are all "rah, rah, Les Miles, rah, rah Tigers" no matter what and can't even have reasonable discussions about improvement need to get off of a message board.

I get sick of the negatigers, but I get sick of the suck ups too.

Stupid.

Last five games? Let's take a look.

@MSST 22 carries for 204
CHSO 9 carries for 68 yards
@AUB 46 carries for 271 yards
FLA 44 carries for 189 yards

POSTSEASON
MSU 20 carries for 75 yards.

Care to try again?

that doesn't apply to LSU. I can't recall miles losing to inferior opponents. it's just that we lose to teams as good or better than us.
