People are making way too big of a deal out of this. He obviously prefers the look of a more aggressive defense and it clouded his judgement. He was obviously wrong, but I don’t think he was taking shots at Aranda.

Both a lie and definitely shade. Which is sad.
He could have said typical coach speak like "We have different skillsets on packages compared to last year. This gives us some opportunities for different looks and more flexibility. I love what our defense looks like, and I think it can be as good as, if not better than, last year."
