2-14 if you count Breaux's fairly anemic AB PH for Pap late. This lineup has always turned over to the top of the order with men on base. They've done it all year, especially Freeman and Duplantis.

For Duplantis and Freeman especially, the two hits from Cole last night are the only hits for either player in two games against the Owls. Both had big opportunities last night and simply could not get the job done.

Rice somehow managed to give up 15 hits in a 9 inning game and only give up 5 or 6 runs. It won't happen often. But if they can keep the back end of our batting order and our lead off guy off the bases, we will struggle, pure and simple.

I'd mention Pap has a leak in our bucket but his defense is something we need considering our pitching staff is gonna be held together with duct tape and big league chew this afternoon. At least until we get to the bullpen.

I'm trying not to make excuses for Duplantis, but he was getting pretty shafted by the ump that last game. Especially that foot level strike that prevented him from walking in the 1st.

Duplantis had his worst game at LSU last night. Hopefully that means he'll play great today.

I just mentioned in another thread I think freeman ended the inning with runners on 3 times. Romero twice and Paps twice. While Duplantis had his worst night as a tiger.

LSU wins today. We are putting up some runs.

Fraley was 4-5
Robertson was 4-5
Romero got on base 2 out of 4 at bats
Diechman was 3 for 4, with a walk
Ried was 2 for 4, with a walk

Everyone can't have great nights. Sure we should have scored a few more. The problem was giving up 10 runs, not only scoring 6 runs.

Every year it seems some nobody comes in and pitches great for the other team, beyond expectations, and we get shite from our pitching staff, despite having everyone available except your two main starters.

True, they cant all have good nights but 3 guys were responsible for killing rallys all night with runners on.

They need to have much more productive outs. They do that, we win.

Again, everyone can't go 3-4.
We hit the ball very hard early in the game, and had nothing to show for it. Beau hit two rockets that ended up as outs. Romero had a rocket as well to the warning track that resulted in an out early. Freeman still had a decent game, just not when it counted. His out with the bases loaded was a good hit, just right at the 2nd baseman.

We gave up 10 runs. That's why we lost. We didnt' get lucky with some of our hard hits. It happens.

We give up 10 runs to Rice and you want to bitch about the Pap-Freeman-Duplantis hitting!!! I'll give you Pap.

Leadoff 0-5 and never reached base
Clean up 0-3 no RBIs even though 2 and 3 spots had 8 hits.
6 hole 0-5 and no RBIs even though 3, 4 and 5 reached 9 times.
8th spot0-4 but did have an RBI

Weird night

2 hole hitter 4 hits
3 hole hitter 4 hits
5 hole hitter 3 hits
7 hole hitter 2 hits
9 hole hitter 2 hits

But in between we did hardly anything.

Different game if we were more competitive. If we have the lead early, I think we defend it with Reynolds, Buggs and Newman in that order.

Since we were behind we went with the back line guys out of the pen.

Romero and Jordan hit the ball really hard a few times, with men on, they just hit it hard right at the center or left fielder.

With respect to hitting, or should I say quality AB's, in the 5th inning when we had bases loaded with the pitcher on the ropes and struggling to find the strike zone, Pap and Jordan both record lazy flyball outs on the first pitch in the count...this makes no sense whatsoever...Rice didn't get out of the inning giving up only 1 run, we let them out of the inning while giving up only 1 run...we didn't make them work for it. I will never understand this "philosophy" at the plate.
