Some of stats that expose how bad the team's defending is are very alarming. This has been a big disappointment and I can't disagree with the writer. Hopefully they can close strong in the reamaining OOC games and play well in the conference, but someone needs to be getting in these guards faces and teach them to defend and give great effort while defending.

I read that about 30 minutes ago. Some of the stats are absolutely mind boggling. Although Im about as low as possible, I will say the rebounding stats should drastically improve shortly.

And who might that someone be? LSU has been poor fundamentally on defense in 3 of Jones 4 years here. Last year was the only time they were solid on that end of the floor. If you watched the games you noticed one coach who was constantly involved when LSU was on the defensive end, Musselman. Many on here said when he left that it wasn't a big deal because he didn't have an effect on the team. Now you are seeing what he meant to the staff. He was the ONLY guy on staff who was a teacher of the game. I'm not going to completely blame JJ because Trelor left him high and dry, but that fat slob on the bench next to him is useless. It was a guy who hadn't been relevant in basketball circles for over 20 years
At the end of the day Jones holds no one accountable for their poor play and does not demand better play. Listen to his post-game press conferences. He recognizes the issues, but has no real desire to fix the problems. Otherwise, they would be fixed. This team consistently makes the same dumb fundamental mistakes. Yet Jones just sits there and stares while they do it game after game after game.
You would think that just raw human emotion would come out if he were frustrated. Watch ANY good coach in college basketball. Not a single one just sits there and stares blankly for 40 minutes. Do you ever wonder why teams like Mich. St. constantly battle and play tough? It's because their coach fricking demands that they do and does not accept otherwise.

I expect to see more of this if things don't improve. The effort for rebounding and defense is just pathetic.
