CF Andrews
RF Landry
C Jacquish
1B Springfield
DP Walljasper
2B Quinn
LF Thornhill
3B Doyle
SS Serrett

Hit or miss this team needs more "wallop" and less "slapping".

I would say we need more "wallop" as well. But, we need high OBP in front of Landry and Jaquish. We need players on base in front of those two to put them in position to drive in runs

Griggs has been so bad in the lead off that Landry and Jaquish have no one but each other to rely on.

Andrews
Dawson
Landry
Jaquish

are the front 4 that give us the best ability to score runs. "Wallop" is only good for a solo homer with no one on base. Dawson needs to focus less on the "top half and run" and drive the ball like she has throughout her career.

Walljasper should not be batting at all

That's not a good lineup at all.

I haven't gotten to watch much this season, but when I do Springfield looks petrified at the plate.

Put Dawson at #2 in the lineup. good chance one of her and andrews gets on base for Landry at #3. after that have Jaquish as cleanup and Doyle at #5

My lineup made sense.

2. Dawson
3. Landry
4. Jaquish
5. Doyle
6. Serrett
7. Quinn
8. Sanchez
9. Griggs

I'm glad I aligned with the resident rant softball expert

seems like serrett's bat has gone cold too. only thing I'd consider changing is switching quinn and serrett

You could go either way, depends on who's hot or whatever really but that's the general spot both should be in.

At least Beth had Andrews lead off last game which was a good start

We can all agree we just need base runners on for Landry and Jaquish. We have no choice but to move them down because they constantly get on base but no one drives them in.

I agree whole heartedly but I just cannot see this lineup ever being put in place. I hope and pray I am wrong because I think you are spot on with this and it mimics what I and a few others have said for months.

I think the best lineup is: (just putting out suggestions)

1.) Andrews LF
2.) Dawson DP
3.) Jaquish C
4.) Landry RF
5.) Doyle 3B
6.) Springfield 1B
7.)Quinn 2B
8.) Serrett SS
9.) Griggs CF

This year we've been worrying about who can protect Jaquish, how about Landry? I don't really know, just hoping this team get out of this offensive slump. Go Tigers!

I think I would rather Jaquish at cleanup, I would rather Landry be on base and Jaquish smash a double or homerun. That's me personally.

Nope. That's the "3" runs for the entire weekend at Bama lineup. You need 3 hits to score a run with that lineup. Need someone to put a ball over the fence....

You will lose most of your games vs good teams with "4" girls running up on pitches trying to slap. The better teams in the country are moving more towards slugging vs slapping.

Walljasper does not have the bat to do that. I would rather Satchell. Thornhill is the same thing. I understand you don't like slappers but Landry and Andrews are perfectly fine. Griggs has always excelled at the bottom of the lineup. Walljasper, Thornhill are not hitting one over the fence anytime in the future. Same thing for Springfield until she gets her swing fixed, SEC pitching is showing a lot of the flaws in our hitting mechanics for some of these players. I just respectfully disagree, not trying to be an arse but I welcome and appreciate your thoughts on this. I agree we need a shakeup but that one wasn't the one I had in mind

Doyle needs to be at minimum 5 or 6 minimum as well. I still would like to see Springfield playing as well but like I said, until we fix the swing the pitching is going to exploit her long swing. Talent is not the issue, she will be a monster for this program but we need to make the correct adjustments

Here is my point:

Springfield, Walljasper and Doyle:

.282 average 12 hrs 60 rbi
That's 253 at bats...

Compared to
Dawson, Griggs and Sanchez:

..291 average "1" hr 29 rbi
That's 240 at bats...

So, for the same number of at bats you get 11 more hrs and 31 more rbi

The ball needs to be hit over the fence from time to time!
Look at other teams around the country who are swapping a little on base percentage for a long ball....

I understand your point, I just think we have more productive hitters than Walljasper. Walljasper can smack a ball but not with any consistency. Whenever she starts at DH, pitchers seem to pick up on her, she does a thousand times better coming in to pinch hit. I would rather a more consistent hitter personally and let Walljasper focus on pitching. She already has a knee injury, no need to mess it up.

Using that logic, how many hits do you need to score Doyle, Springfield or Wali from first once they single to the outfield as opposed to singling on the infield lie the slapper may?

Doyle homers less than 2% of her at bats, Wali less than 2% and Springfield around 6% of at bats. I agree they can drive the ball but in the 95+% of the at bats when they don't and they end of on first it takes even more hits to score them than it does Andrews, Landry or Dawson.

The theories cut both ways. You want a line up that can produce base runners with speed and then punch to hit the gaps. We don't have the punch but we do have the speed. I think we need to utilize what we have and keep our fingers crossed that some of the young sluggers will step it up.

I agree with the power need, but we need base runners in front of Landry and Jaquish and we haven't had that since early this season.
