I completely agree with your comment. Good comments until that last sentence. Completely unnecessary.
I hope we all give Emery some space and encouragement and that he blossoms into a really great player, much like Helaire did in 2019. That would be an awesome plus for this LSU team.

Nothing I said was wrong. He is not unique in his hardships and has been given countless opportunities to succeed beyond anything a normal student would receive. You crying on the fricking internet for him will certainly be the thing that finally helps him to figure it out though, I’m sure.

I tend to agree with you here.
No one is saying he hasn’t dealt with tough circumstances, and they might have very well distracted his focus, but at which point do you ignore the advantage of your opportunity and let it all slip away.
This kid has all the resources in the world at his finger tips. Some are forced and others were probably being thrown at him to support him through any adversity. Tutors, Counselors, Coaches, Mentors, etc.
Eventually you have to help yourself. I truly believe school isn’t for him, and he doesn’t apply himself enough as needed to compensate for the void in his educational ability and resources basically trying to pass him. And it’s not that big of a void.
I might be wrong, but there are 80 other players that figure it out. Other students lose family members and don’t have the same resources, but figure it out.
Enough with the coddling. He’s a grown man, figure it out. The choice is his, not ours, and definitely not sympathy’s.

By continuing to get into the same situations that is not accepting responsibility. I never said he blamed anyone else but he only has himself to blame for being in the same situations. My comment was more addressed to the poster asking for the benefit of the doubt, so I responded by saying eventually you have to accept the responsibility and only blame yourself for ending up in the same situations repeatedly.

Exactly. The idea that Emery should be given further special treatment or that there are some circumstances not experienced by every other student/person is laughable.

Don't we all go through problems like this? I know life has been tough on me a lot of times. Nobody want's to hear that as an excuse though, even if you feel sorry for yourself.
