Before we get a new HC, we need a new AD. Who's your pick?

My top choice would be Tom Jurich from Louisville. I know they're dealing with the Adidas scandal right now but look at this guy's accomplishments over the past two decades. He is so loved that big name donors are pushing for them to bring him back in spite of the scandal. U of L is really good in all three major sports. We know about the football and basketball success but even their baseball team made the CWS and had a stud player drafted in the top 10. Perhaps he has been turned off by his schools treatment of him and would be interested in a new school with all the resources that LSU has. I would suggest that we strike while the iron is hot before he and U of L kiss and make up. Would be a definite upgrade over JA (although, to be fair, so would my 3 year old nephew) and is someone who I would trust to reel in great coaches and show case LSU as teh destination school it actually is. If you're unfamiliar with TJ, treat yo self and google his resume. You will not be disappointed.

Personally, I wouldn't be opposed to giving Les the job.

Or, alternatively, hire a proven AD who has done the job and done it well.

Shake your head all you want, but I'd take Les over Jurich. You know, the guys who's former basketball program is the centerpiece of a FBI investigation.

Austin Thomas.
Utah’s AD
UCF’s AD
Long shot = Wisconsin’s AD
I’m sorry. I don’t know names...

Skip Bertman proved that a former coach can do a fine job as an AD (as opposed to the button-up, executive-type we now have). Guy loves LSU, and that's pretty important to me.
Also, and perhaps most importantly, the affection many still have for Les may make this Alleva firing actually happen sooner rather than later (if Les were, in fact, interested).
Finally, I imagine Les would cherish the chance to replace the guy who tried to push him out twice in a 10 month period.

I don't really know any names, but their experience and capability need to be prioritized higher than their familiarity with LSU or Louisiana. I'm worried we're going to fall into the same trap with this as we did with the O hire.

It all starts with F King. As long as he is around, alleva isn’t going anywhere. It’s the sad truth.

There are a lot of guys who were previously at LSU who have gone on to have success elsewhere.
Scott Woodward, who is currently the AD at Texas A&M, is a Baton Rouge native and LSU grad. He previously worked in the LSU athletic dept before following Mark Emmert to Washington. He eventually became the AD as Washington and essentially inherited a football team that went 0-12. He hired Steve Sarkisian who in two years turned around an AWFUL football program. After Sark left for USC, Woodard hired Chris Petersen. I think it's safe to say that Washington has been pretty happy with the Petersen hire.
You know Woodward is already up to speed on the coaching market considering he is likely going to have to get rid of Sumlin at the end of the season. Instead of having him make a change at A&M, why not just bring him home and have him do it at LSU?
One would think LSU could make it really hard for him to turn down his hometown and Alma Mater

I don't know that I buy this. There is a tremendous amount of pressure on Alleva right now, even at a national level, and we're not even halfway through the season. I don't see any realistic scenario where Alleva can survive this. King didn't hire Alleva, so he may want "his guy" in that position but at a minimum shouldn't feel any loyalty to him.
Whether or not you think F. King would make a good hire is a separate issue.

“Giving Les the job”
Why not? We will be paying him for another 5 yrs. anyway. We might as well get something for our money. We sure aren’t getting that from Joe.
And yes I know, it’s not gonna happen.

Herb Vincent wouldn't be a bad hire.

the guy from Texas A&M (he's from here) would be my first choice.
second choice is Herb Vincent
third choice is after a comprehensive national search
But knowing LSU, we'll probably just give it to Les.

Why not?
because he has absolutely no experience as an administrator whatsoever
if we were in good times then giving the job to Les would be one thing, but now when the next guy is going to have to come in and clean up a huge mess? No, find a professional.

Mikes is too stubborn and loves Michigan too much
He should be their AD

I say this with all due respect: You're out of your damn mind.
The "give the job to Les crowd" is as braindead and lazy as the "give the job to O, he talk like us crowd".
I couldn't give two fricks if a coach or AD has any connection or knowledge of Louisiana.
Hire someone competent that has experience as an AD or assistant AD. Hire someone with a previous history of hires. Hire someone with intelligence and vision.
