Beckwith just hasn't seemed to come back to 100% after his injury. He has missed too many tackles, and has had to rely on Coleman too much to save his arse with coverage...From what I have seen out of Cutrera this year, I would much rather see him out there. He definitely gives his all on every play. Opinions???

Cutrera seems to be more consistent and doesn't seem to give up the big play by mental mistakes... Beckwith has that wow factor, but he messes up too much

When Beckwith is 100% healthy I would say him. But, he has not been healthy in a while, I would bet if Cutrera played the whole game he would have 8 or 9 tackles...something Beckwith has not done this year. Tomorrow, I would call Cutrera's number.....but it ain't gonna happen.

Agree.
Beckwith lost a step and intensity because of his injury.
I wish him the very best and hope he can rehab himself to 100% in order to get a shot at a paycheck overseas or CFL.

Cutrera does give great effort on every play and though he didnt have the talent to beat out Beckwith before his injury, he does have talent enough to cover the position now.

I couldnt agree with you more buddy. Cutrera just seems to play a lot more "smarter" and has the guys in position to make plays when he is on the field. I guess what I'm saying is that there is not as much confusion it seems when Cutrera is on defense. Beckwith is a very talented guy but like you said, since the injury, i dont think he is playing at 100 percent. I would much rather Cutrera in. They young man has improved each and every game this year and should be the stud in 2009 if given the chance.

agreed...I really thought he could have been a huge leader on the D this year! Think about it, we just did not have that this year like we did with Steltz last year, and Hunt in our first BCSNC year! JUST SAYIN

I so agree with this, but there are a lot of #54 haters on here. He seems to be in the right position most of the time, filling holes like a LB is supposed to do. I swear this year it looks like Beckwith is going out of his way to find a blocker to run into. Many of the long gainers we have been gashed for have been because he was in the wrong place, could not shed a block, etc...

Yup...and when I talk about this with people at the game, they just say that it is b/c he is not even 80%...BS! Beck almost ran down Knowshon on his 67-yd TD run. He is back to more than 80%. I just think he was a little overrated.

So this begs the question then, knowing this AND an injured Beckwith, why does he start over Cutrera every game?

Beckwith has seniority-where have you been?

Not meaning to be a smartass towards you, but Les apparently values longevity more than anything else.

Which is one my biggest issues with Miles as a tiger fan. Put the players on the field that give you a shot at winning.

How fair is that to the other upperclassmen to make them play in a game when not everyone can make the plays.

They should be thanking Les for him playing their son more than his performance has earned him this year.

Les always starts a Senior over a lower classman if the talent is close. I agree Cutrera has REALLY stepped up his game. Start him.

+1, I dont even know if he will be drafted, unless he has an off the chart pro day, which LSU players have not done recently.

DB is living off one or two games his soph season, there is no reason for him to be playing.

JC should start, and DB should be a situational guy.

I watched both closely in the replay of the Troy game and from what I took from it is that Darry is still not 100% and really has trouble defending the pass, while what I saw from cutrera really was impressive, he guarded their RBs and TEs very well when needed.

It is Beckwith's play that has hurt his draft status. Unless something changes I would be surprised if he gets drafted. Someone will give him a FA contract based on his sophmore season (some games). I do not think any of the upper class LB are really SEC quality, although JC has defenitley improved.
