Ease up bro, I said "IF they make a change". I have never said I think a change SHOULD be made. Just joining the discussion.

Congrats on other Tiger batters for coming on strong at the right time. Even Pap seems to be back. Beau has been consistently bad all season.

I wouldn't be against trying to swap coomes and Smith, but overall I think the lineup is good. We do need more production of the dh but I think we've got what we've got. Sometimes Paul will pull some bench player out his arse around this time, but I wouldn't count on it.

They like to pitch outside to him, he just can't lay off. It's almost comical to watch.

His hands are always lagging so he has to commit early to be in timing with the pitch leaving him vulnerable to anything off speed

PM will make a DH change before the regionals. Beau has no future as a player after LSU. Good kid but just can't hit anything offspeed.

Does Bryce Jordan get a redshirt this year, & return as a Junior next year?
Same with Norman. Does he get a redshirt in 2017?

Do you really think he's not going to get some at-bats next year?

Put Slaughter back at 1st. Coombs at DH. We can afford one .200 batter now that Pap is batting well.
Posted on 5/25/17 at 2:52 pm to GeorgeWest
Coombs is holding his own at 1st.
Slaughter was struggling at plate big time when taken out of lineup.

I'd be ok with that. Slaughter at 1st would improve our defense. If Beau Jordan is a better hitter than Slaughter...it's not by much imo.

Besides the State game on Saturday...Jordan hasn't done shite recently. He even looks bad doing it. I'm not saying Slaughter will be better, but it's worth a shot imo.

Coomes is holding his own at 1st.

Agreed

coomes has made some great plays at first. but, as you said has had trouble picking the ball.

Y'all are so worried about who follows Deichmann that you don't realize what he does for Freeman and Duplantis. They are seeing a ton of good pitches because of him and it shows. And Kramer is NOT batting 4th again. Period. The top 4 are not and should not change. Pap is seeing fastballs at 8. Watson is doing so well turning the lineup over. So that leaves Coomes, Smith and Beau for the 5, 6, 7. I'll take them in that order.
I agree that 1,2,3,4,8,9 are the strength our of lineup & should remain the same. Coomes isn't setting the world on fire, but he's a .300 hitter & has good gap power(good ob% as well). Obviously, Josh Smith isn't coming out of the lineup. Jordan is literally the only guy that could conceivably be replaced, but I'm not 100% sure we have a better option.

I can see some value w/ Slaughter at 1st & Coomes DHing.
I'd leave the rest of the lineup as is.
Who do you think has more upside from reps at the plate, Slaughter or Beau?

Upside goes to Slaughter, but now that we're in the post season, we need current value, not upside.

Slaughter easily has more upside, but I'm not sure he comes anywhere close to it this year. Can't hurt to give him a chance though.
Jordan pretty much is what he is at this point.
I'm positive that Slaughter would be an upgrade at 1st, but the question is if he can produce better than Jordan the rest of the year.
