And still the undisputed NC of 2004 (AP). And still finished atop both polls (AP and Coaches) in 2004. But good one in connecting 2004 to LSU.

in '58 the AP was the most legitimate national championship. Since the BCS era it is pretty much meaningless. I don't give a shite about the 07 AP trophy. Only USC fans take the AP trophy seriously now adays

Agree. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY is pumping their team up during the offseason saying, "Our goal is to win the AP, anything less in unacceptable".
But EVERY team is trying to win the crystal egg. The AP is an afterthought nowadays... for only desperate teams needing to cling to what little they accomplish.
