I think they should have playoffs with Bowls as follows:

Round 1 East: Orange = BCS#1 vs BCS#8
Sugar. = BCS#4 vs BCS#5
Round 1 West: Fiesta = BCS#2 vs BCS#7
Rose. = BCS#3 vs BCS#6

Round 2 East: Orange vs Sugar
Round 2 West: Fiesta vs Rose

Round 3 NC : East vs West to be played in neutral site such as new Cowboys Stadium in centrally located Dallas,TX.

Bowls could change Round 1 Ranks every Four years,
And could change Round 2 venues every 2 years ( but always East vs West)

There would still be controversy at #7&8 spots in BCS, but it would be a lot more fair.

And EVERY conference should have a Championship Game.

May need to drop back to Eleven Regular Season games.

there, I have solved the BCS mess!

it is not about the BCS. It is about Conference Aliances with those bowls specifically the Rose Bowl. It will always have a Big 10 (or whatever they will be), Pack 10 or BOTH. Those conferences aren't giving-up the $$$ anytime soon.

You are correct...too simple...the Higher Powers would never go for it! Kinda like the Gubment!

Then the rose gets bumped for the Cotton Bowl, etc.
They can opt out if they like...they are the only ones stubborn enough to do this.

But I guaranty you a top 8 pac10 or big10 team will opt out of the Rose Bowl to play for a National Championship!

Good analogy, too much money for one group to lose.

The freaking regular season is not a damn playoff!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Losing once should not disqualify a team from contending for a national championship. This is why all other sports have a playoff, then you have to prove yourself if you are a one loss. Further more I think baseball has it figured out perfectly (ofcourse it would be too much for college football) I like double elimination it takes the fluke games out of the scenario.

Bowls would make more money with multiple games each year.

Even NC could rotate between the four instead of central spot. Played in opposite of R2 venue. Three out of four Bowls would host TWO major games each year...Twice the $$$!

Dsb...I agree, and think a conference champ game plus playoff would help weed out "fluke" game (but not guaranty spot in playoffs if not ranked).

Say Auburn loses to SC...If they are still in top eight, they go and are not penalized for having an extra game.
SC does NOT go, but can Revel in a Conf. Championship!

good point, but will the SEC and Orange do the same thing? Who will they ot out for, the Cap One? Not likely.

agree. The only way the mess doesn't work is if there are no Pack or SEC schools ranked that high. The fact that the Big East and ACC SUCK so bad this year will make this hard to do since none of those schools have a team in the BCS top 8.
