Gold shuts out Purple 3-0 in 5 innings.

Lange pitched for the first time in a scrimmage this spring and looked like his usual self. Both hits against him were on fast balls.
Chris Reid was at practice but didn't participate.
Slaughter and Bush combined on a really good play, 3-1, on a hot shot to first by Freeman.
Game was tied 0-0 going into the bottom of the last inning, the purple team had two hits and the gold with none. Gold rallied with five straight hits and coach called it a game.

I expect Josh Smith to continue to hit into the regular season. The College Classic will be a good test of the whole team, early on. I'm happy to see LSU challenged before conference play starts this season.

Any word on Reid? In a boot or on crutches? I was there when he got hit on the ankle Saturday and it looked pretty bad. Needed assistance to get back to dugout.

Reid was at practice yesterday in sweats and had a noticeable limp.
