I've been critical of the hitting and pitching of this team as much as anyone.
But, I've not given up hope on them yet because they have an excellent defense and 2 starters that we have seen do good late in the year.
If this team somehow hosts a regional, they can win with what they have in the rotation. If they are paired up in a super with a non-sec opponent or the right sec opponent, they could potentially win that.
Then who knows.
These freshmen are now starting to figure out the opposing pitching and contributing.

Maybe there is hope for a run!

It's good to have hope. I just don't see this team making a run. Too inconsistent. No leadership from Paul or the seniors on this team. Skip would not have put up with this as a coach.

When our starting pitching pitches well, we win most of the time. But our starting pitching has been inconsistent this season so far. And the SEC stats show just how poorly our pitching has been in SEC play this season.

Bama won't be as easy as people think

All their games against Moo St were 1 run games

Bama is horrible.

Maybe Mississippi State isn't as good.

After getting swept at Ark opening weekend. State is 13-2 over the next 5 SEC weekends. 3 of those 5 weekends were against the #1, 3, & 6 ERAs in the SEC.

I would say that's pretty good.

If it breaks a slump- let them get after it.

It's not so much about the Freshman "figuring things out" as it is about the Seniors playing up to their potential. So far, they have been less than overwhelming. Popup, lineout, or strikeout.

I'll still have faith that this team can turn it around until the last out of the season. You never know in baseball, the best team rarely wins it all. With that said, they're running out of time.

no it's not. unless, of course, you have a dominant pitcher on the mound having a great outing.

MOST top potential pitchers don't even go to college.

you need to SCORE RUNS. doesn't matter how. this team is absolutely the least efficient team I have ever seen at scoring runs. having a runner on 3rd with no outs is when the shite happens; strikeout, popout, hit DP grounder right to the second baseman, etc, etc.

Do you realize the difference between a 5 and 3 ERA? That's massive!
Both Poche and Lange can and have been closer to or better than 3 ERA. Walker is there.
Now look at run production.
If we were 4th in the conference in era, we would either be in first or just out. As it stands we are only 3 out.

State's is 13th in conference ERA 4.46 and in 1st place

They're winning with good defense, hitting, and aggressive base running.
