At what point do we move on and hire a new defensive line coach?

We are getting destroyed in recruiting and our defensive line isn’t performing up to standard. I understand coach Lindsay is dealing with medical issues but this is big boy football and we need a coach now.

If I had to miss months you better believe my employer would replace me.

We should have been prepared to move on from the jump.

He can move to a consulting role like Krag did

I’ll have to take your word on the recruiting part as I’m not up to date on it. But performance wise I agree.

Esp with how we are in the secondary, it’s critical that the D Line is able to get pressure. I was told all off season that was our strongest position.

Probably after the season when nearly all coaches are hired.

Who are we going to hire in the beginning/middle of the season that’s long term ? They will probably bring someone at the end of the regular season. Most aren’t jumping ship in first few weeks.

I love how shitty our DL recruiting is and the only tweet Lindsey has in the last month is a highlight from a South Carolina receiver

Dude had zero business being at LSU to begin with, hopefully LSU is ready to announce a new DL hire at the EOY instead of starting the search.

That’s probably because he isn’t currently on the staff.

Maybe because he has serious health issues, isn't on staff, and likely isn't too tuned into the recruiting and twitter world right now?

It's been said by the On3 staff that Lindsey has been on the phone with recruits as of late...

Who the hell those recruits are, that we don't know.

I hadn't heard this.
What have you heard? Credible source, please.

I do not want to be unkind to anyone, but the state of LSU football is a tale of two cities.
It is the best of times for the offense, which is near the top nationally in many categories. Better yet, we are doing it with very young players everywhere, and we have bench full of really great younger players.
Defense is the complete opposite. We look awful currently, and although we have a handful of soph and freshman starters, the outlook is not nearly as good on our younger roster. Our recruiting on defense is not in the same league as offense.
Our DC is deeply underachieving.

I hope he gets well, I honestly do. But what kid wants to sign up to play football for a position coach that isn't healthy enough to coach?!?

Obviously I'm wishing the best for his recovery and I think most would say the same.

But, no, you can't bring back a highly questionable hire who missed his entire first year due to a medical emergency that could just as easily happen again next year.

Who exactly are we supposed to hire during the season? Everyone worth a shite is currently employed and no one is going to leave mid-season, that’s a great way to ruin your reputation. The only option was to split duties between Jancek and the analysts/GAs

During the season, who is available? Or, do you think a quality coach will leave another team during the season? Can you give an example of this happening before? Curious to understand the strategy here.

Soon I hope, but likely won’t be before this season is over. What I really hope is that this guy gets better.

Idk your line of work but we had multiple Superintendents have to take medical leave and they were never replaced.

What is his actual medical emergency? Is it being fat?

I got raked over the coals on the recruiting board for saying this when it affected the DL recruits. I wish nothing but the best for JL and would even love him back on staff at some point. But you can't not have a permanent DL coach for this long and we have heard nothing to suggest a timely recovery.
