One prediction had us playing Maryland. Double yuck.
The key to any LSU fans going to a bowl game this year will be the matchup, in my opinion. If we end up in a Florida bowl playing Nebraska, for example, that might be an attractive matchup that the people might want to see. If we end up in something like the Belk Bowl playing Pittsburgh, there will be no fans to be seen anywhere from LSU.

I'm having a hard time projecting too with the playoff in place and BCS gone. Can anyone enlighten me on the pecking order of SEC bowls outside of the playoffs?

Since I live in Wacksonville, I would love to see the Tigers play here, but they deserve a much better bowl game.

The remaining new years six (Orange, Fiesta, Cotton, Peach) are choosen by the selection committee as well. They can place whoever they feel is deserving regardless of conference with the exception that the highest ranked of the non-power five will automatically get in. I think the sec gets three of the 8 spots. Then it goes Citrus, Outback, Gator, etc.

Capital One Bowl gets first pick
The SEC will assign teams to the following bowls. There is no pecking order ... Outback, Music City, Gator, Liberty, Texas, Belk.
Last group is Birmingham Bowl and Indy Bowl.

I really hope that we get an interesting matchup in whatever bowl we go to. LSU fans travelled so poorly to the last 2 bowls that we really need a good showing this time.

Slightly incorrect. Some of them have conference tie ins.
quote:
Rose Bowl — Big Ten #1 vs. Pac-12 #1
Sugar Bowl — SEC #1 vs. Big 12 #1
Orange Bowl — ACC #1 vs. SEC #2, Big Ten #2, or Notre Dame
Cotton Bowl — at-large or "Group of Five" (committee selection)
Fiesta Bowl — at-large or "Group of Five" (committee selection)
Peach Bowl — at-large or "Group of Five" (committee selection)
"Group of Five" refers to the highest ranked non -"BCS" conference team.
That said, naturally if a game is a semifinal the conference tie ins are no longer valid.
