There are 200 million more people living in The United States now compared to WW2.

Let's.....
What is the mortality rate for the age group our student-athletes are in?
If you are using the published mortality rate for ages 18-49, DON'T. Because we don't have any football players who are 49.
So, what is the real mortality rate for our student-athletes?
Now, what adjustment to that number would you make considering they are all very healthy?

If you are honest, you will concede that there is statistically (so small it really does not matter) no risk at all compared to other illnesses floating around every year that we totally ignore.

You can’t argue with simple minded fools who make useless analogies based upon incomparable data.

US population was about 40% of the current population back then. The ENTIRE US population is potentially exposed to the virus, whereas only soldiers in the conflict zone were exposed to dying in the war. For the most part at least.

So your “context” sucks arse and you are fricking dumb.

That logic can be applied to any cause of death. It offers nothing in the way of substance.

It’s dumb

You can both be saddened by the people who have died and also believe it is time to open the country back up.

The point of the shutdown was NEVER to limit the amount of people who got Covid and death from Covid. It was to spread those numbers out so that the hospitals would not be overrun. Flatten the curve means the same amount of instances over a longer period of time. The hospitals are more than capable of handling the virus now it is time to get back to normalcy. Get people back to work. Unemployment kills people too and that for the most part is something we can control.

There won't be a season unless a surprise vaccine is introduced.

There may never be a vaccine. What then are we never going to play football again?

WE ARE DEFINITELY PLAYING FOOTBALL IN THE FALL.

This virus is no more than a bad flu and the data shows that 99.8% of everyone who gets it will recover with no problem. Do not believe the propaganda.

More people will die if we do not open our country back up now. That includes colleges and football games. No one talks about the deaths that are happening every day that we stay locked down. More suicides, more over doses, more heart attacks and cancer deaths because people did not go to a doctor or a hospital for treatment for fear of catching the virus, more domestic violence, more crime, more depression, etc. No one is talking about this. In their unreasonable fear of this bad flu all they can think about is staying shutdown lest someone test positive. It is pathetic. The fear of this virus has become a greater problem than the virus itself.

You bet we will play football this fall! This is only June. We have a long time from June to September. Watch and see all you fearful hearts. LSU WILL BE IN TIGER STADIUM RIGHT ON SCHEDULE IN THE FALL. GEAUX TIGERS!

It's not dumb because deaths by covid-19 could be preventable by practicing social distancing, wear mask in public, practice health care precautions, and avoid the crowds. On the contrary, it is dumb to ignore those precautions and advices from health care authorities. For me, I don't want to become a number in the "negligible" statistics.

No it is dumb. Maybe you are dumb. I don’t know you. But your reasoning is dumb. You would have everyone do social distancing till everyone is bankrupt and there is nothing left to come back to. That is dumb. You should stay home since you are so afraid and the rest of us are going back to work and going to enjoy an LSU game in a packed Tiger Stadium! You can watch it on TV.

How long do we do this for? Until there is a vaccine? What if one never comes? The flu vaccine is just a guess and we live our lives through that and the flu harms a wider range of people than Covid specifically way more children.

What we are doing now is not a long term solution. It is a temporary solution to make sure we didn’t overwhelm the hospitals. The hospitals have the necessary equipment now to handle it. It is time for us to open up.

You can still protect the most at risk and if you are scared stay home and continue to practice social distancing. The people that want to go to work and get on with their lives allow them to do so. Again unemployment kills people also. The suicide and domestic abuse rates go up as unemployment goes up.

60,000 people die every year from the flu. 10,000 a year from car wrecks. 100,000-150,000 dying with the vast majority over 70 and 40% of those being in nursing facilities and obviously not healthy are not huge numbers in a country of 350 million people.
