I’m getting so tired of seeing the huge spin on his situation. I know that a huge number of people on this board disagree or think he was wronged, but you don’t go on a radio show and talk shite about a company that you’re in the middle of interviewing for and expect things to turn out perfectly. He fricked up, end of story. It’s not his mom’s fault, or the Bottom’s fault, or his childhood friends’ faults, it’s his and his alone. He needs to grow up and move on with his life and focus on getting better in the future

On advice of the Redskins, Guice would not comment on the record about the combine interviews in question or the league’s investigation, but he was adamant that he didn’t miss any pre-draft meetings. He did acknowledge missing his flight for a pre-draft visit with the Eagles because of traffic en route to the airport in New Orleans. The visit was rescheduled, he said, and upon his arrival to the team’s facility, he went “in each room” and apologized.

quote:

During a two-hour conversation, he acknowledged his personality can be off-putting at times. But he believes people “misjudge” him because he’s not a “robot.” Asked whether he said something in his pre-draft interviews that a team might have misread, the rookie said: “It’s not even that. It’s just the way I come off. The way I am. The way I answer stuff. Just me. They’re used to those ‘Stanford people that answer things perfectly’-type [expletive]. I answer how [expletive] is, and they’re just not used to that.”

It’s the equivalent of someone who says “people think I’m mean but I’m just a really honest person and I call it like I see it.”

Youre not honest, you’re an a-hole....

Ok. These are football player interview and not Executive interview. Not sure why he thinks he needs Stanford answers.

If you want a job, you answer like you want a job. You don't go to interview, talk disrespectful and expect a job.

I want Guice to do good but he needs to be mature

Yeah, NFL personnel evaluators have never met anyone as real as you DG

NFL just overflowing with Stanford grads.

And probably the loudest most outspoken dude in the league, Richard Sherman, actually went to Stanford

I love the dude for staying home and playing hard, and wish him nothing but success.

But that quote makes me very nervous for his future if he can’t get out of his own head.

Joe Mixon punched a girl so hard she was hospitalized. Guice has an abrasive personality. Mixon gets drafted at a higher spot.

I agree... That's just his way of saying "I'm always going to say what I believe is the truth which can often offend some people but I'll always call it like I see it.

It's just who he is which isn't a bad thing IMO.

I agree!

I don’t think he’s the first guy to ever “call it like he sees it” in one of those interviews. Probably not the first that didn’t give “Stanford type” answers. I doubt his answers were the first “real” answers they had ever heard and “reality” was more than they could handle.

So this is what I’m curious about...
why does he think they are picking on him? Does he really think it’s simply because he’s outspoken? He obviously has a foul mouth but I doubt NFL teams have a policy against foul language. So why did they pick on him?
Btw I am a Tiger fan and a Guice fan. I’m not bashing him I’m just curious.

Teams probably were shying away from a guy they project will be a sideshow clown or diva.. He hasn't had a single nfl carry yet and he's already all over the media with drama and nonsense. He just needs to shut his mouth and do what he's good at which is run the football.

Yep, news flash but most companies would rather employ a wife beater than someone who’s going to run their mouth to the media about something that could get the team fined massive amounts of money, lose them a huge amount of capital (in the form of draft picks), or get executives fired. There isn’t a single NFL exec who legitimately gives even half of a frick about possibly having to kick someone off the team for past character issues in comparison to what Guice did, as that’s a risk for a huge percentage of the kids that go into the NFL anyway. What Guice did is probably the most damaging thing that a player can possibly do to a team and its decision makers/top executives, and that scared people off. It is what it is.

I’m just saying that I’m tired of seeing him run to the media and give dramatic accounts as to why there was some huge preconceived conspiracy against poor Derrius in the draft and how it’s everyone else’s fault except his. If he never runs straight to a radio show and makes those comments, he likely gets drafted much higher. Period. If he had such a massive problem with the way things were handled and he wanted legitimate change, why not take the professional route and bring it up to the Players’ Association after he was drafted? Did he really have to go straight to Lebatard DURING THE DRAFT when he had other options, including bringing this up in 10 years after his career is over, then cry about dropping? It’s honestly pretty ridiculous and I’m shocked that there are so many people who are acting bewildered at his situation.
