It would be great to read the article but I can't, because every time I get through a paragraph a stupid pop up comes up asking me to subscribe.

Open up a blank word doc.

When the article loads, right click and select all.

Ctrl+C

Ctrl+V in word doc

It will be very weirdly formatted and also include the ads and pictures, but if you can get it done before the pop up you can read the article without subscribing.

ETA: Ctrl+A will select all if your right click menu doesn't have it. It's also a time save to if you're trying to beat the pop up.

I'm on my phone, but regardless, if you have to go through all that BS just to read the article, then they apparently don't want me to read it very bad.

Yeah I’m not sure why it’s allowing me to read it without subscribing. Might get a certain number of free articles or something.

They want you to read it. Just not for free.

That’s kind of like saying Ford must not want you to drive a F150 because they ask money for it. Kinda ridiculous

I can't use incognito mode, so I have to jump through all of those hoops.

I also end up cleaning up the word doc, re-sizing the font, removing hyperlinks, etc. I wouldn't say I'm OCD, but I have a particular compulsion about that.

Yes, because buying a truck and reading an article on the internet are exactly the same thing.

They’re both selling a product so yes pretty much the same thing in the context of the conversation.

I get that they're selling a product, but most reasonable people can't afford to have 150 subscriptions to read all the articles they come across.

I will say that Wilson Alexander is doing a decent job on baseball coverage, better than some guys in the past. I'd consider a subscription if they allowed you to highlight only the articles you wanted at a reduced rate. Like, I only want the articles tagged LSU Baseball for $2 a month.

It would probably boost their sub rate and would definitely give them a better idea of what their readership values.

Oh I agree with all of this.

It just irks me when people act like journalism should be free but then turn around and bitch about how shite the journalists are.

You want good journalism? Then pay for it.

Then they shouldn’t include all the ads they are making money off of it. Everyone else who writes articles know they just want the clicks so that they can appeal to companies placing their ads there for revenue. You know, kinda like the way this website works ....

So buying a truck, which I will drive for years, is the same as paying for a subscription because I am interested in ONE article? I don't go buy a truck because I need to run to Wal Marks one time.

I guess who found who works for the shitty newspaper.

My mama pays for daily paper subscription to her house. I created account with her email to get the e-edition. It's pretty awesome to be able to read the paper like a real paper as well as read links

What a concept, having to pay for something you use as a consumer like gas, food or groceries.

I never once said the advocate was a good paper or that it was worth the money. I don’t have a subscription either.

There is a metric shite ton of things I don’t have because I have judged them to not be worth the money, an advocate subscription included, but I have never once bitched that those things should be free.
