Just want to know the rules- could key drop the spring semester and still be eligible for the fall? Are there minimum semester or yearly hours the NCAA requires to maintain eligibility?

The statement said away from football not away from school... are you hearing otherwise?

Is football doing anything organized right now? It's weird to announce anything if he's not leaving town for a while.

If he's out of school he can make up plenty of hours in the Spring Intersession and during the Summer. He could also be taking online classes this Spring.

Probably an offseason conditioning and lifting program.

It's almost gotta be this, in which case, I'm all for it. If he's struggling in the classroom, let him dedicate all his time to staying qualified. Come back in the summer and rejoin the practices. Arden Key isn't going to drop off because he missed spring practice.

Can he make up credit hours during the summer terms to become eligible?

Most rehabs don't allow internet access. That would rule out online classes unless he found one that was willing to make an exception.

He can probably miss a semester and still be on time. They take so much extra class.

Definitely drugs. O is giving him a chance to get help before its to late, via Mathieu. He hasn't failed his second drug test because it hasn't come yet so if you can get your self straight come back ready to play and pass a drug test. If all goes well he will be in purple and gold, come byu.

Well, I am sure he has been working out in the heat while the rest of us sit in air conditioned comfort so this should qualify as reparations for any indiscretion.

Use to be 12 hours minimum per semester. Don't know how it is now.

Dammit - I'm not going to bash the kid, personally, but how shortsighted is it to squander literally 10s of millions of dollars of future earnings to get high?

I'm really hoping he gets it together, and not just because he's the best returning defender on my football team.

If it's drugs we know it's not marijuana. Nobody gets a leave of absence for that these days.

This is the worst case scenario.
