Anyone remember “Big Red” at LSU football games?

Back in the 60s, 70s and 80’s some guy called Big Red would stand up and start chanting “Tiger Bait! Tiger Bait! Tiger Bait!” or “Here we go Tigers! Here we go Tigers! Here we go Tigers!” He would chant for a few minutes with his voice getting louder and louder and faster and faster until the whole stadium could hear him. No megaphone used. Just cupped his hands. When he finished he would get a standing ovation from the folks in the stadium.
Guys like him made Tiger Stadium a special place on Saturday nights during my early years attending games.
Anyone else remember him or know his story?

He did it at Basketball games as well. I remember the voice but never laid eyes on him!

No. But I just saw BIG RED at the grocery store checkout.

I do. When he started up usually the crowd would go quiet when they heard him and then when he finished up everybody would go nuts. I’m pretty sure I even saw him at some basketball games.

Yes, but did he ever cheer for an opposing team after LSU was eliminated from a regional?

No. This was before the Pussification of America.

That sounds annoying.

I remember Big Red at basketball games when I was a kid. Specifically, I ended up sitting two rows behind him when we played Tennessee and Dale Ellis. That was an awesome atmosphere. The PMAC was rocking.

Remember him well, he was best at baseball games only because there were such small crowds his voice could be heard by everyone there.
Funniest thing was after a night of drinking, me and some friends stopped at a donut place and ran into Big Red dropping off the morning paper about 4 am

You’re probably one of those duds that yells at people in front of him to sit down during a big play late in the 4th quarter.

I first saw him at baseball games. During the Lamabe years, no one went to baseball games. He'd sit behind home plate with his "sidekick"/friend.
