I noticed a lot of dropped passes early by Oregon's receivers. Think that had a lot to do with the fact they were scared to get hit

We certainly masured well against speed... I am excited to see us stack up against a power game with a quaterback that keeps us honest. Until proven otherwise...

best D line and secondary we have ever had. #1 rated in the country. Gonna be tough to top them. This team has more speed though. we shall see. This team has a great secondary it appears and a darn good D line also.

When I saw LSU come out of the tunnel I told my wife they look like they want to literally eat the whole Oregon team. to the Tigers!

Weren't too many in the 03 defense either...

LB's had trouble covering backs out of the backfield that year. see UF, Ole Miss, UGA, and OU games. LT and Eric ALexander were good but not as fast as this year's LB's. Alexander was the fastest in 2003 of the LB's.

It was a hell of a team, but I think it could be topped one day.

Lordy, we got burned on that same damn RB up the seam play, what, 3, 4 times?

Notably, against Florida...

The '58 defense laughs hysterically at this remark.

2003 was probably better, we'll find out as the season goes on. This D is better than 2006 though.

This! The "Intensity!" "Tenacity!" "Ferociousness!"is what i'm talking about! I've never seen an LSU defense, the whole defense, like this!

Biggest question is how we handle the SEC! It seems to me the SEC has transformed the past couple of years to an even more power running conference with a few spread, pro wrinkles. If we can stuff the middle the sideline to sideline is covered. Great speed and athletic ability on this defense. Gonna be a great year!

yes vs a team that lines up in the I and runs right at us. Good part is the middle of our DL is huge! I expected Brockers to be stout but Logan minimized Freaks minutes because he was lights out! Our DT's are awesome!

I am gonna disagree. Whether you believe it or not, Oregons offense is really good. The LSU defense was very impressive in the first 20 minutes or so of that game.

I have to agree with you. I was watching the game with my Dad and I told him early on that the defense was forcing all of them penalties. I didn't know how the game would end up but it plainly obvious Oregon wasn't ready for how physical LSU was.

I wasn't ready for how physical LSU was. I was amazed. The D'backs have definitely got it going on.

03 defense didn't play high scoring offenses either.

Best offense that year was maybe Ole Miss. Arkansas actually scored the most at 24.

Lots of potential and I think it could happen but you can't forget what the2003 bandits did. Those frickers were men amongst boys and this defense will be the closest we've had since.

Not saying they won't be better, but I'm going to have to let them crown themselves. I think they could very well be just as good but it's REALLY hard for me to say they are better after 1 game.

AND, oregon blew it by not running their qb. that would have forced lsu to back off and play "contain" like against cam newton. i guess kelly was trying to protect his qb (maybe the #2 guy stinks) and had little choice. or maybe kelly is not a stategical genius. lots of folks don't seem to understand the difference between tactics and strategy.
