Anyone know where I can find a copy of the 1958 championship game ??

They did not play a championship game

They were crowned champions before the 1959 sugar bowl vs clemson

The champion was crowned after the season and before the bowl game was played. Bama lost their game after being crowned one year and you guessed it, claimed the natty anyway.

Just because of semantics alluded to by everyone else, back then, teams were awarded the championship prior to any bowl games. Lsu played Clemson in the sugar bowl on Jan 1, 1959, but they were named national champions and had a banquet in their honor on Dec 15, 1958.

I have the 1959 sugar bowl on DVD, I may be able to make you a copy

Why wouldn't they? They won the national championship (AP & Coaches) under the rules that the time.

The following year the AP changed the rules so that they awarded the national championship after bowl games. Guess what Arkansas lost their bowl game, Bama won theirs. Bama got the national title two years in a row, and Arkansas missed out on the national title for the 2nd year in a row.

I think 3 of Bryant's championships were like that, including the year they lost to ND in Sugar Bowl and split the title with them
