That Arkansas hit I was in the stadium club towards the south end zone and heard the impact. Was unbelievable

Ah, how legends grow over time. It was a helluva hit, but saying you heard it in the Stadium Club is an exaggerated lie. There was 2 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter in a one score game at Tiger Stadium. We were on defense and the crowd was making it difficult forArkansas' own players to hear the snap count. It was loud as hell and there's no way you could have heard a hit from sitting in the Stadium Club.

I hope for his sake his playing days are not over, but if they are, could he get a shot at coaching? Would he have interest in that? Maybe come back to LSU, finish out his degree (if he hasn't already) and become a graduate assistant?

One of my favorite Tigers ever. The dude looked straight massive out there on the hill pitching. Those Texas boys weren't ready. One day when I was a freshman I was walking on campus and Chad came up to me while I was outside Middleton. Talked to him for about 15 minutes. Seemed like a great guy.

who knows. He hasn't posted anything on social media since right after his surgery. There haven't been any news stories on him since last October. All I can find is a blurb on his player profile page at milb.com that says he was released in December, which is why I started the thread. Such a sad story, one of the most well rounded natural athletes to ever come through LSU and his career may be over in both sports before they even really began.

Man that reminds me.

After Fournette steam-rolled a&m in his freshman year, someone made a video of it with that same type of wrestling audio.. It was absolutely hilarious. I cannot find it to this day and have often searched.

Wish I had saved it.

Loved labron too but he has stone hands and bad hips a very violent hitter. Jones was more fluid great hands and a naturally bigger man he didn't have to try to hit you hard he was just a locomotive. Love both players just my opinion that jones was a better all around athlete.

Well I did sorry to disappoint you. Maybe if you hadn't been sitting on your hands with headphones on telling the people in front of you to sit down you could have heard it

Chad Jones hit him so hard the refs threw a personal foul, I still think at the time it was a totally legal hit.

It definitely was, but it was close, and in real time it's got to be hard for the refs to see, especially given the result of the hit.

Landry had 12 ints in 4 seasons

Jones had 5 in 3 years

4.37 40yard dash Landry at 213 lbs

Chad Jones 4.65 at 222lbs

Jones was a good athlete for his size but Laron was a freak athlete and better player.

Yes I know everything you're saying is true but Landry started for 4 years jones about 1 1/2 years Landry def faster but he's very poor in coverage jones has soft hand returned punts could've played offense if he wanted too he was also a very good pitcher and could hit for the baseball team. Just because he was faster dosnt mean he was a better athlete. Like I said Landry was one of my favorites too but if dumbass miles doesn't start mcray in front of jones for 2 seasons jones number would be great too. To me jones was a better all around athlete

And when Landry got to lsu he weighed 180 his fresh year peds made him huge jones is a bigger person naturally. I'm not arguing with you Landry was the best safety that ever played here I just think jones is the most athletically gifted safety we ever had

If you couldn't hear it on tv (where microphones are located on the field), then you couldn't hear the hit all the way in the Stadium Club. Look at the clip again and you can't hear the hit. LINK

Anyway, a hell of a play that stands on it's own. No need to go Bill Walton with hyperbole.
