Second base is where you put your worst infielder.

no. you don't need the arm strength required at short or third but he better have a great range, great glove and skills necessary to turn double plays; hardly your "worst" infielder. technically, your third baseman is your worst fielder and your first baseman is close and not needed an arm. your middle infielders are where you start in setting up a great defense.

Amen...show me a team with a bad 2nd baseman and it's doubtful they accomplished great things.

Gotta be strong up the middle in baseball and football.

Give the guy a break. He had knee surgery and is still in a brace. Probably isn't the fastest guy healthy. I'm just thankful he was out.

I jumped up and spilled everything, that really was incredible.

Baseball question since I'm a fan, never really played. Trying to exclude hindsight, wouldn't it have been a better move to put in someone who could actually run against such a great defensive team like LSU or are you just hoping for a base hit and then pinch run him. What's more important? A good hitting percentage and no wheels or the ability to get to first and a slightly lower hitting percentage.

According to the two Kentucky homer announcers on the SEC+ feed, the batter who got thrown out at first by Deichmann, T.J. Collett, was their best bench homerun guy. He hit a grand slam HR this season against Ole Miss in his first game to play in after his knee surgery.

The KY coach was looking for a homerun, not just a base hit.

if he had not hit a rocket right at Deichman he would have made it in time to first...

Hit was a two or three hop liner right at Deichman and he was charging it all the way and come up firing... no hesitation to go to first.
