It's a concern. Hopefully Aranda stays.

While on the topic of staffing news, it appears that Texas is going to make a strong run at LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda. According to reports, Aranda and Houston interim coach Todd Orlando are the two leading candidates for the job. Aranda told Coach Orgeron on Saturday that he is very happy at LSU, but you wouldn’t expect him to say otherwise. What the Longhorns have going for them is that Tom Herman and Aranda are old friends.

If there is bad blood between Herman and Aleva, you bet your arse Herman will do whatever to steal Aranda!!

I'm sorry but let me put some facts here..... As much as it pains me to say this, Dave is about to work for someone he was previously in charge of, his good buddy from college just offered him a job with a nice raise on the already substantial salary he's making and he can move his family from Baton Rouge (I was born and raised in br) to a MUCH better city in Austin TX (Schools, infrastructure, jobs, cleanliness, social atmosphere). idk what y'all are smoking but if it was my family this would be a no brainer. I'm moving regardless of the fact they moved a year prior the situation he's being offered is much more stable than the one he's currently in.

Worried? Sure. But we make the best offer we can. If he leaves , we go after the next best DC we can.

our fans are pussies and pretty dumb not to see Texas wouldn't even be a lateral move for him.

Prove it. I want to believe but can't until I see proof.

quote:This would be a total Alleva move. This is how he operates. If he gets his pride bruised, he forgets whatever is best for LSU and makes a kneejerk reaction. This happened at Duke LaCrosse, it happened with Jimbo and Herman continuing to negotiate when he said he'd had enough. It happened with the Florida hurricane stuff, too; we just don't want to admit it. I can live with the latter because at some point you have to tell the SEC office to shove it, but the rest just shows that he puts his ego above the best interests of LSU. TIme for him to go.
I kind of think that Alleva might jettison him for even entertaining getting a better deal.

Nope
If he leaves, he leaves. Coach Twinkle Toes Flintstone will hire Barney fricking Rubble and LSU will be fine

I agree with a lot of people on TD who think Aranda stays with LSU until the end of his contract at least.
For two main reasons:
A huge stable of established talent, he'll be able to put his stamp on kids he's pumping to the NFL year in and year out. As opposed to Texas where he'll undoubtedly have a huge dip in defensive talent and production.
His end game is a NFL defensive coordinator gig supposedly. He'll want to stay in a traditionally lower scoring SEC as compared to Big 12. He would be tested game after game by their high flying offensives from the likes of Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech etc...
Just my opinion.
