youd think a les miles ground and pound team would've rolled in that atmosphere.

that game was the straw that broke the camel's back before turf was installed.

That was my first LSU game to attend. We drove a little over 3 hours to get to it after New Years Eve. The rain sucked. It was cold. I was super excited to see the Tigers play. Still had a good time watching even though we lost.

I think around six state championship games were played on that field, and maybe one other college game before that, if my memory is close to correct. Yeah, that field was arse.

Penn State fans really felt like they did something there.

I was, at the time, so excited to watch a Joe Paterno coached team play the Tigers. Knowing what I know now, screw that game in so many ways.

Yep. Was in college at the time, so we stayed in a cheap arse motel. Damn near caught pneumonia at the game, watched an abysmal performance on the worst field I've ever seen, then couldn't get a cab and had to walk back to the hotel while Penn State fans drove by shouting "WE ARE.... PENN STATE!" So fun.

Only experience worse was probably sitting through that 2012 Natty. Had parked at someone's house in Metairie, so I got a ride back there after the game and in the 5 steps it took from me to get out of my friend's car and get into mine another car drives by and shouts "ROLL TIDE!" as one last little dagger for the night.

I had just as bad of an experience in that stadium after the '04 season when Iowa "Blue Grass Miracled" our arse.

Didn’t attend but what a disgrace of a game

I would’ve pulled my team off the field and refused to play

Yes. Horrible memory and plenty of Penn State fans around here to rub it in.
It was the "perfect storm." Yes, FHSAA played all of their state championship games on that field. The field was designated to get new turf before the bowl games.
They did not expect rain, as December is pretty dry around here. Obviously the new turf did not take in all the rain. It was the first time EVER raining on the Citrus Bowl game, and it just got really bad.
Cold, rain, and just a complete shite show.

Was that pedo Joe's last bowl game?
ETA: looked it up. It wasn't. Last one the the next year. Gators beat him.

Yep, watched it with a neighbor who was a Penn State alumn. Got to drink whiskey from his Jo Pa cup after their victory.

PS when Jo Pa got fired, this neighbor stopped watching Penn State football, so I got the last laugh I feel.

I was there.
Got rained on at the beginning, then froze when the temperature dropped, then left pissed off after we got screwed by the refs at the end. Not to mention that on New Year’s Eve I got to the jam packed Magic Kingdom at 10 am and left at 2am the following morning.

Golden Girls were rolling around in the mud during pregame doing their performance that involved being on the ground. There were hundreds of pieces of turf as big as Keiland Williams’ calves laying all over the field during the game. Cold and rainy before the game, plus crappy area meant tailgating was awful, too! Easily worst bowl game in history.
