Suppose to fly out at 8am. Hopefully the weather doesn't ground the plane.

Man, that's gonna be sketchy at best. Weather supposed to get bad this evening.

If it makes you feel any better, I am on the same flight as you. Southwest flight 499 I believe. Will give you 2 bits of info:
1) My friends father works for the airport field operations and he said our flight typically uses a plane that spends the night at the airport, as in it lands the night before and stays at MSY. He said that Southwest will likely get that plane out of there if certain conditions are expected, and that another plane would potentially take its place but there could be delays/cancellations.
2) The public relations person for the airport lives down the street from my parents. She told my dad last night that she would definitely not make plans to drive at this point. She said that they have not even mentioned a word about shutting down the airport or delaying/canceling flights. She said typically the winds at the airport need to be sustained 40+ at the airport to cancel/delay flights. I don't think those conditions will exist at MSY at 8:00 am tomorrow or at any time at MSY in the next week. This is a rain event, not a wind event.
I know that doesn't give you an answer. My plan is to make a decision around 4:00 today. If the TD remains stationary or makes landfall Sunday, conditions tomorrow will be the same as they are righ now and the flight will be on. If it looks like there is a high liklihood of cancellation at 4:00 today, will get in my vehicle and drive to Shreveport. SW is real good about offering vouchers in situations like this.

Springlake, thanks for the info. My flight is actually American Airlines 1099.
I was thinking it would not be canceled, but you just never know. I was hoping somebody was in the same situation as me and had some info.
Once again, thanks for info.

Think you'll be OK Sat. AM, getting back Sun. nite (7PM from Dal) could get tricky though! Let the dice roll!

Our flight back from Dallas leaves in the morning at 7:55am and arrives in NO at 9:15am. Don't know how much of a difference that makes. Hopefully we can make it.
