Any idea of the PK for football this season?

I'm guessing Connor Culp is trying to earn the job but who is he competing against? Hopefully, Cameron Gamble has improved on kick offs, but I'm not a fan.

Who is this Jack Gonsoulin kid? Will he compete for a starting job?

Any thoughts are appreciated...

ETA - thanks for fixing

Also, I think Culp is expected to be our kicker for extra points and field goals. Maybe Gamble's problems were more bc of how the previous coaching staff wanted him to kick. If so, I'd guess he'd do kickoffs and if Culp struggles any, Gamble may have an opportunity elsewhere, but I think he'll still just stick to kickoffs.

Connor is a great kid. Was offered a Scholarship by Les after attending a kicking camp on campus. Puts up a good ball. His "A" ball is the best of the bunch, but as of the end of last year he was not as consistent as one would have hoped.

I've said it 1,000 times and I will say it again. Cameron has the strongest KO leg of the group....but he also has the capability of hitting the longest hang-time by kicking a very high ball that drops around the 5. This is what he has been asked to do his entire career at LSU. They have been letting him kick away during practice...so perhaps with Less gone the mindset has changed on the soundness of the short high KO.

The Dark Horse to start. Jack is local. Went to Catholic High...also a great kid. At the end of last season, and early this year Jack was actually putting up the best ball in the group. If I were STC, I would have had Jack as my starting FG/PAT guy as of a few months ago. However, Connor charted better in the Springs.

Cameron will retain KO duty, but the bigger competition is going to be between Connor and Jack. Nothing is in stone. Both are long ball hitters....longer than Colby was. Both Jack and Connor have potential 60 yd range, whereas Colby was a guy you would max out at 50.

Hope this helps

Les has been gone, he still struggled.

But with our new ST coach... Oh wait it's going to be a joint effort by a bunch of guys hired by Les.

I really wish I knew why people argue with me on this when I keep telling you guys what the deal is. The information is NOT my opinion.

Truth is, CEO doesn't know squat about special teams or kicking. He has told his kickers this. Changing that aspect of the game was the last thing on his mind last year. Is it something that he will start to look at this year. I hope so. Like you guys, I prefer to bang it out of the end-zone...but I'm not going to call a kid a failure as an athlete when that is not what he has been instructed to do.
