I think it's unlikely he gets drafted, but I wouldn't completely rule it out.
From what I've read, he did pretty well at the Senior Bowl.
He has to have a phenomenal pro day. I expect Russell to run in the low 4.4s to high 4.3s. Let's say he runs great and goes sub 4.4. There were only 5 receivers that ran a sub 4.4 at the Combine.
Marquise Goodwin - 4.27
Tavon Austin - 4.34
Ryan Swope - 4.34
Josh Boyce - 4.38
Kenny Stills - 4.38
All those guys are getting drafted.
If he runs in the 4.3s, some team may get enamored by his speed and take a chance on him as a wildcat QB/ slot receiver/ kick returner/ ST player.
The issue with that is he has almost no college experience returning kicks. I would have liked to see him get a few more chances returning kickoffs. I think he had potential to be a game breaker there. He would have made me uncomfortable returning punts because of his shaky hands.
He did return kicks at the Senior Bowl. 2 returns for 47 yards.
He's not a pure receiver right now, so it would have to be a team that thinks he has potential on ST and has a niche role for him in their offense, with hopes of maybe turning him into a productive slot receiver in the future.
I'm looking forward to watching him at the pro day on Wednesday. I hope he lights it up!
