Anthony Jennings only needs to reach Matt Mauck level of consistency and passing level to elevate this team to championship contender level. That is possible even if he has some limitations. A year of starting experience will make a world of difference. With more experience at the skill positions he should be more comfortable.

Harris clearly has more physical skills and if he can grasp the other nuances of the position then great, LSU becomes even more dangerous. However, if he does takes more risks because of his skill level it could create turnovers. Remember he will be at essentially the stage Jennings was at the start of this season from an experience stand point.

I'd settle for him being 02 Mauck. he's not touching 03 Mauck.

ideally, he touches the bench and stays there. #StartHarris

Matt Mauck was a better athlete and far better passer. He was also 19-2 all time. Matt Mauck level is not easily achievable.

Jennings needs to be on the sideline holding a clipboard. He was given more than enough opportunity to demonstrate his skills (14 starts) and it's not good enough.

He doesn't need a "slight" improvement or a "little more" experience to make us a championship team. This was by far our weakest position on the field and he was one of the worst (including many with less opportunity, experience, and/or surrounded by less talent) in the nation.

The time is now! We can't waste another season hoping he will develop into just an "average" QB. He can wait on the bench until there's an injury or we need someone to kneel at the end of the game.

Matt Mauck in his JR year (2003) threw for 2825yds 28TDs and 14INTs

lofty goal for Jennings IMO

That sounds like aiming for the roof and hoping to hit the ceiling, other than reaching for the stars and hoping to hit the moon. Sorry, but I don't think he's touching Mauck's level. He was not blessed with the gifts of accuaracy, nor the confidence that he can thread the needle on a pass even if a defender is on his man. Mauck had some pretty good defenses if I remember as well. Our D has improved but is not on that level yet.

If memory serves Matt Mauck's QB rating at the end of his senior year was about 20th in the nation. Jennings will never crack the top 40.

Mauck started out 02 horribly, but by the UF game, he looked like he had turned a corner. He rode that momentum through rehab and the offseason and came back even better.

Jennings has shown no such progression over a longer period of time. I'm sorry. I hope the best for him, because he seems to be a solid, hard-working kid. However, I think he better start aspiring to be the next Kragthorpe, rather than the next Mauck.
