Maybe I’m reading too much into it but from the other LSU Gold episodes, when Brian Kelly speaks to the team after the game, Kayshon is in the back with the other players. After being team captain and speaking to the offense during the Florida game and now seeing him standing next to coach Kelly after the Ole Miss win, I feel like that is another example of him buying to the program.

Maybe he got into the locker room late

No he definitely is standing there intentionally and if you watch the full episode you can see he’s turned the corner and is fully bought in. Embracing leadership.

I love the story Kelly told about how Boutte reminded him to give the defense props for doing good when addressing the team. You could tell that Kelly was enjoying how Boutte was progressing as a leader.

I'd say a bigger sign was during the Ole Miss game, he was celebrating a first down run by Williams (I think) where he had little to no impact on the play. His engagement with the team in situations like that has been great to see.

He certainly wasn’t still on the field punching girls, that’s for sure.

I don't know what Boutte's problem is this year but something is off with him. It almost looks like he's playing not to get hurt. I don't think it's for lack of effort I believe he has serious mental hurdles he's having problems getting over due to his gruesome injury last year. If BK was convinced he wasn't putting effort in he would've put him on the bench by now. He needs to build confidence like JD did.

This is a weird time to make the comment. If it was the first game or 2 I'd agree but he was in there making plays last week and a couple of times clearly banged up slightly but came right back in.

He's still dropping easy to catch balls and killing drives which has been an issue for him all year.

I always get ridiculed for this, but I will state it again. Boutte is NOT a pure Wide receiver. He is no where near the talent of Justin Jefferson, Chase, Brian Thomas, Nabors.

What Boutte excels at is catching an easy short to middle pass and then using his RB talent to explode for yards.

Just go look at the highlight reel that was posted on the main site of Boutte. Every catch on that film is just a easy normal catch.

You will not see him making catches diving for the ball, catching passes in tight contact with DB's He's just not that guy.

You guys will come back with the " he will be drafted in 1st round" Ya, he might, but I don't think so.

Go back to the first game with Florida State the pass he dropped in the Endzone with the DB covering him tight. He had two hands on the ball and couldn't hold on.

Jefferson, Chase, Jared Jenkins, and others "MAKE that catch!

He’s a great teammate regardless of what the rant says about him. He doesn’t care about his stats, he just wants to win.

I noticed him celebrating with Mason Taylor after he scored his first TD. He loves seeing his teammates & this offense succeed.

It's a mix of events IMO. First he's developing more chemistry with Daniels and as JD gets more comfortable it's easier for Boutte to be engaged. Second, Kelly has not given up on him and has worked hard to develop Kayshon as a leader. Third is winning. Since he's been here as a FR LSU has been in a spiral with losing, transfers, opt outs and a coach that gave up on the team. It's so much easier to buy in when you win and everyone is having a good time.

On that note, it's really cool to see Daniels enjoying himself. He looks much more relaxed the last 2 weeks and it shows in his performance.

I’ve never seen a fan base coddle and suck up to a guy whose selfishness is not in dispute. He is no more responsible for the current success than anyone else on the team. Please get off his nut……it’s unbecoming.

Has more to do with the QBs he’s played with. Johnson and Daniels struggle with deep passes.

Disagree. I think it's likely that Kayshon isn't a natural born leader. He is an incredibly talented football player, and is learning how to lead. He's only 20 years old.

He got paid, had a kid, and was given the distinction of #7 -- maybe not because of his leadership capabilities at the time, but the potential CBK saw in him. It's a lot to take on at once.

Y'all need to chill out and let the kid grow.

He also became a father this season and he has embraced that responsibility, as a few stories and TV features have shown.

All of these things -- being a responsible father, learning how to be a team leader -- will serve him well when the NFL scouts make their final decision on him next spring.

In the meantime, let's enjoy watching him grow.

He should have never been checked out to begin with. This is his money year. There in lies the problem and speaks to his character.

Maybe you should go back and watch that play...
The ball is under thrown, he jumps over the DBs head, catches it, and the DB knocks it out as Boutte is hitting the ground. It was great play by the DB.

Boutte suffers from resting bitch face and people interpret to mean he was pouting when things weren't going well and he was struggling a little bit. People just trying to overanalyze it. Maybe he was just struggling and knocking some rust off and there's really not much more to it than that.
