An injury stat from LSU Gold

From Nick Dias on Twitter
“#LSU football has decreased their season ending/extended duration injuries by 94% this offseason.
…94 percent
Per, LSU Gold.”
For anyone who has remaining doubts about the impact of Kelly’s S&C program, here is some definitive data for you. A change that significant is no fluke or accident.

This is insane

I mean that’s awesome.
But I need more data.
If we only had one serious injury last fall and this year we had none that would be a 100% decrease on serious injuries. Sure that’s better but it could be contributed to luck.
I need to see more numbers to get the full story out of that percentage.

Do you not remember how many injuries we had coming out of camp last year? We had several players either out or limited for multiple games.

From this article last year....
LINK
Stingley, Ricks, Logan, TDP all injured before hitting started. O quoted in the article as saying: "The little amount of hitting we've done, this is a larger amount of injuries."

It's mathematically implausible.
To get an even 96% reduction in "season ending" or "extended duration" injuries from last year, there are only 3 possibilities given an 85 man roster:
1. 25 such injuries last year, and only 1 this year;
2. 50 such injuries last year, and only 2 this year; or
3. 75 such injuries last year, and only 3 this year.
We didn't have 25, 50, or 75 such injuries last year, much less last offseason. We may have had 25 injuries, but they weren't either season ending or "extended duration". Even if it's not exactly a 96%, but just rounded up or down, we'd still be talking about 23 or 25 of those type of injuries last year, and that didn't happen either.
Even if we narrowly define "extended duration" to mean "an injury of 2 days or more during the season", it would be nonsensical to declare in the offseason that you reduced those injuries from a season that hasn't yet happened.
I'm sure injuries were decreased, but somebody has some 'splainin to do with the numbers.

It’s the % decreased. So for a 94% decrease in injuries, the math would be 16 injuries last year, to 1 injury this year = a 93.75% decrease in injury

Of course Nick Dias subscribes to LSU gold, otherwise he wouldn’t have any info

Don’t ruin the ranters circle jerk with math.

The number was 94 % and one of the qualifiers is not defined. What is extended duration? Is it more than one game. Is it simply more than one or two practices?
It also does not necessarily mean multiple players, depending on how things are defined. A single player could miss practice multiple times for different injuries or even the same injury reoccurring multiple times.
Going from 16 to 1 would round up to 94, 17 to 1 down to 94.
But it does seem like a made up number.

What do you know... we get a competent head coach and suddenly players stop tearing their opt-out muscle.

Yeah you. Do you not understand percentages? Holy shite your post was stupid.
