The Advocate and WAFB both reporting Tennessee is looking at him and Mike Martin is heading back to LA to deal with it

I would go after Byrne (used to be at State now at Zona), or Radakovish (used to be at LSU now at GT).

Either would be amazing hires IMO.

There isn't a A.D. worth their salt that will stick around when the president is extorting the atheletic department for more and more money to supplement the Academic side. this year they wanted 4 million more, next year it will be 6-8 mil.

Why is the president doing this? because the Governor is cutting Academics and they need to find the money from somewhere. So, the easiest thing is to say Joe, we need your money. Then Joe has to figure out how to pay all the athletic cost.

Tenn. has one of the largest Athletic budgets and it doesn't have the louisiana politics.

good for Joe, hopefully this is good for lsu. send a message that you aren't going to keep anyone until you start cleaning up the politics. emmert got fed up with it, joe is gone, okeefe fell victim to it.

Dan Radakovich must have been fed up with it as well.

You do understand UT has two separate athletic departments, correct?

You object to politics in LSU, yet also object to them cutting government funding of Academics. Ever heard of "you lie down with dogs, you get fleas"? If you want less politics in LSU, you should want less government funding; that's the problem to begin with.

May as well get used to this, because it will never change. Now that the LSU Chancellor has set a precedent for receiving an annual portion of the athletic profits for academic use, I fully expect that to become permanent.

In fact, I expect a story to come out lauding Mike Martin for making the Athletic Department serve the school, as opposed to the other way around.

The LSU Athletic department is, and always has been, self-supporting. Not much "figuring out" needed.

They also have to go out of state for virtually all their recruits. According to the UT fans on the SECr, the Vol football team has exactly four starters from the state of Tennessee.

Which situation would you honestly prefer?

I'd bet no one left because of "politics". And I don't think this is about anything except UT paying $800,000 for a guy we pay $550,000 to.

Maybe not the ONLY place, but the world renowned leader by a wide margin.
