Just watched his previous two games, just his pitching, and noticed that he isn't fooling guys as much this year mainly because everyone knows about him and his curveball.

It is dropping too low and no one is really chasing it so he needs to move it up a few more inches and paint the bottom of that strike zone and he will be fine.

The biggest concern is that he fixes it sooner rather than later. He is rushing his pitches and forcing a lot of throws after falling behind on the count. If he gets that curveball to be as effective as it was in 2015, he will be the best in the NCAA, easily.

His stats were dominant last year, but he pitched out of a lot of jams.

I think he'll find that bulldog mentality once the games have some meaning.

Agreed... Dude is doing just fine... Once he settles into a steady routine he will be back to dominate form... He's a creature of habit, especially being a pitcher... Once his mind and body get back into his normal routine we will all be gushing over him again

That isn't the point though. Jam or not, he is forcing pitches this season because he is panicking about the hitters not being fooled from his curveball.

So instead of being up 0-2 in the count, he is falling behind 2-0 and throwing more fastballs around the plate. A mediocre coach can notice this and have his hitters adjust by laying off the pitches.

But once he throws that curveball for a strike, like he did a lot late last year, it is game over.

You are correct. He is rushing his delivery and trying to force his pitches to a spot instead of releasing . Looks like he is putting to much pressure on himself to be perfect.

My 2cents: Lange has just fallen in the same rut all power pitchers do. They become throwers instead of pitchers. Meaning they start dominating batters and begin to rely on their "stuff" and not the art of pitching. Lange's fastball sits at 92-94. Impressive, but not unhitable-see Stallings-. They begin to just throw the fastball rather than locate the fastball. As a hitter it's unreal what just a few inches in placement does for the difficulty.
To make a long read short, have faith, Dunn knows what he is doing will have Lange back dominating soon.

Unless you're Alan Dunn, there is no reason you should be doing this.

Thanks. That's good to know because I was a little concerned.

It's not because people "know about his curve". He's having command issues due to mechanics and mental mistakes. That's it, there is no need for a thread every 5 minutes saying people figured out his game. He is a dominate pitcher you can't figure him out, he just has off days.

So you have "big" concerns, but he will be fine? Yes, he will be fine. It's early and he has shut down stuff.

I'm not worried yet because his velocity is still there. If his velocity wasn't there then you are looking at something internally wrong and that would be troubling. It seems like it is just a mechanical issue they need to get fixed. With a guy that big throwing that hard it doesn't take much to be wrong to cause control issues.
