Yday I was listening to Coach Oats talk about the crowd and said it was a big factor (duh) , but the interesting thing he said was that Auburn has the best home court in the SEC. He says that they have arranged it or Pearl has arranged so that the students are right on the court making it deafening to opponents, also that Alabama is working to rearrange seating to make that possible also, and will be the #1 renovations for their court and place next year. Does LSU and Wade have any ideas to do the same to the PMAC, because it’s a morgue sometimes and don’t give me if we win they’ll come cause Alabama ain’t won shite in B-ball and Auburn just started, besides they’re football schools also. Just wondering if anyone in the know knows????

I hope this is a consideration. The whole student section seating at the PMAC is weird. It's removed from the court, 1/4 of the lowest seats are set up for press, the bulk of the students are in the rafters. It's a crappy environment. I think part of it is because there are no suites or club seating, so more of the big donors need to be taken care of with lower courtside seating, which pushes the bulk of the students to the 300 - level. I hope this is on Wade's "here's what it takes for me to stay" list.

Tear down PMAC
Play a season at the Centroplex
Build rectangular arena with suites that seats about 12,000

This, right here. No matter how much they want to improve the atmosphere they aren't going to kick the big spenders out of those seats. Hope I'm wrong, but I don't think we see the students on the sideline again until a renovation or new arena.

That would be fine if it was a steeper set of seats closer to the court. That's an option for a renovation too. The students don't HAVE to be on the sideline for us to have a good student section. Damn near anything would be better than what we have.

Because students came to 1 or 2 games a year and LSU finally said enough is enough and sold those seats to the general public at high prices.

Move the students, so they can sit on their hands or not even show up. Why waste a valuable income space? Students need to start showing up and become more involved in the game. I recognize that the big money that sits in those seats now rarely get involved in the games, but they do provide more in donations to program than anyone else.

Long Story Short, show up, be loud and earn those seats on the sideline.

Fact. When will the students start getting blamed solely? It’s not the arena’s, which has no soul, fault. The students stopped coming first and they moved it. Guess what, they still don’t come. Tonight will be the ONLY game season the students section is absolutely filled. That’s the problem.

Auburn did not have to kick a large group of big spenders out of the lower seats. They have very little tradition and legacy in their basketball program while the PMAC has been home to eight SEC champions and three Final Four teams.

What Illinois did to Assembly Hall is the blueprint for the PMAC. Concrete structure that was limited, but made it very nice.

Putting all 87 of our students right on top of the other team will really destroy them.

Or maybe build a new track stadium and then build a new arena where the track stadium is now. When that is finished tear the PMAC down and put a overly priced parking lot in its place

They moved it because the student section was a morgue and it showed on television

The old LSU student section location wasn't on the side the camera faces. It's way more visible now behind the goal.

This. Students need to earn and then lobby for better seating if they want it.
