Don't mean a damn thing. Mainly because they didn't play anybody of note other than us and Arkansas. If I hear one more ESPN analyst talk about their defensive rankings.....

I agree. The only thing dragging down our stats is Oregon's lightning offense and Geno Smith throwing all over the place against us.

Versus common opponents, LSU has actually given up more yards than Bama, BUT forced more turnovers and held opponents to less points.

in 6 common games (UF, UT, MSU, Arky, OM, and Auburn):

LSU = 9 PPG
Bama = 9.6 PPG

LSU = 2.5 TOs/game
BAMA = 1.67 TOs/game

I think LSU gives up more yards, but makes up for it by forcing more turnovers, which is common. LSU takes more risks than Bama. LSU also was willing to play their backups more in blowouts to gain experience than Bama does. That's why you saw a dropoff in Bama's defense last year, and likely will see one next season. Bama doesn't give a lot of their backups AS much experience in real games.

Sure shut our offense down but not sure that takes much if you have a great run defense.
