There was a time in the Miles era that the equal talent mantra was true. LSU was one of the few teams that could match Alabama’s talent. That is not the case now and hasn’t been for many years.

Thus far Alabama has ten players drafted in the 2019 draft. How can a team recover from losing half its starters in the draft? No problem for Bama, they just reload. They have had at least 10 players drafted in each of the last three drafts, 10 so far in 2019.

On top of that, games are won with elite talent. Bama has had an incredible 11 players drafted in the first round over the last three years. By way of contrast, LSU has had only four first round picks over the same time frame. That’s almost 3 to 1 impact players Bama has had over LSU.

Saban is no coaching genius. Give just about any college coach 30 NFL players on one roster and he is going to win a lot of games. Saban is a recruiting genius. That’s his not so secret reason for success. If you want to beat Bama you have to out recruit them. In football coaching can make a difference for sure, but overwhelming talent almost always wins.

This year LSU is on the right track to get an elite recruiting class. That’s the ticket to success, top ranked recruiting classes, not just good classes.

Going toe-to-toe in recruiting is the first step at a chance at success, not necessarily the ticket. Once LSU can balance the talent, it will then be left to coaching. How do you see those matchups looking?

3 DL in the first round. Louisiana DL prefer Bama.

The draft can't always define players. Saban coaches players to win college games. His draft output is so good because he gets the best of the best.

I think I heard their entire DL was drafted? (Clemson)

We need that type of DL.

We may be heading that way or getting there.
Idk.

He is one of the best defensive coaches in all of football. Dont lie to yourself.

He turned Cleveland browns into the #1 defense in the nfl.
