Should be a nice drive up the coast. I am making the same drive on Friday!

Driving from SFO to SEA on Friday? Dude, that's like driving from Baton Rouge to Chicago. And if you do take the Coast Highway, it'll be Sunday before you get there.

A lot of people are doing this...I don't think the majority know how long of a drive that is...but, when you go through the dunes are of Oregon around Reedsport, that's where this tiger was born. Enjoy the drive...from Florence to Astoria is some of the most beautiful coastline in the world.

I concur, especially with the number of small towns in OR and speed limits. Had a yak burger at some dive in a little OR coastal town, can't remember the name, but that was good stuff. Even if you have to cut it short and hit the interstate you will enjoy it.

Once you commit to highway 101 in Oregon you might as well stick with it. Its over an hour to the interstate and you won't be going north at all while getting to it. Its pretty much directly east, which won't save you anytime at all. It is so beautiful though if you do it. You will not be disappointed.

Hitting the high points along the Oregon Coast IMO (I'm doing it days after the game within a vacation). Seaside, Cannon Beach, Lincoln City, Tillamook Cheese Factory, Otter Crest Loop, Devils Punchbowl State Park, Yaquina Head Lighthouse, Seal Rock, and Heceta Lighthouse. I would skip the 3 capes drive around Tillamook (lots of time and not that much to see if you are short of time). I've seen the Dunes a couple of times before near Florence so I'm heading to from Florence east to Eugene to see University of Oregon’s Autzen Football stadium and hit I-5. Then I'm hitting Corvallis to view Oregon State’s Reser Stadium and then north to Portland.

We were headed east from the coast to Portland regardless, I just recall how much longer the drive took than I first thought.

Has anyone checked on flying into Vancouver B.C. and driving less than 2 hrs. to Seattle? Wife saved a good bit a few years back doing this.

I checked flying into Vancouver, Seattle, Spokane, and Portland and Seattle was the cheapest for me by far. Flying through O'Hare on the way up and through Denver on the way back home.

It can be slow going.....besides the locals going to the beach there are thousands of tourists here. 101 is terrible this time of year. Speed limit is 55, one lane each way, tons of rv's, peeps pulling atv's, boats and such doesn't help the drive. Oh yeah, and the fricking state police handing out tickets like candy, not to mention every sheriffs dept and local police.

Flying into Vancouver is usually more expensive. Also the drive to Seattle is closer to 3 hours, maybe more depending on the border crossing delay.

It is about 3 hours, you also better make sure the rental company you go with allows their cars to go into the U.S.. The way the border is now you better expect some sitting time too. I wouldn't waste my time with that unless you wanted to experience B.C., which is a great city. Tons of homeless crackheads though. I have been to every major city in this country and I have never seen such a homeless problem.
