After the UK win, ball was in CMM’s court to have fans feeling good going into next year

Nobody grounded in reality expected LSU to make a run in the NCAAT much less get a bid.

A win or 2 in the NIT? Sure .

After the Kentucky win, LSU followed it up with
- A 20-point arse beating at home vs MSU
- A 1-point squeaker against a bad Georgia team at home
- 9-point loss to a bad Arkansas team
- A narrow victory against a Missouri team who hasn’t won in the year 2024
- Another double digit loss to MSU
- A loss at home to mid-major North Texas

Sounds like the UK win was a fluke and then he returned to mediocrity. Wild. Who would have thought?

This season was a success despite what you negatigers say. We have a ton of momentum going in to the offseason.

This was very much a Johnny Jones type of season

Was it better than last year? Yes

Was it at the level LSU bball had previously been at? No

We are losing a lot and so far the track record doesn’t look good to replace it.

It doesn’t take 4 years to build a team anymore.

If MM can’t deliver a real tourny bid next year he is just never going to work out.

LSU ended a season that most would say was a step in the right direction with an absolutely pathetic whimper after upsetting Kentucky

What do you remember more about that 2015 football season? The 8-0 start and #2 playoff ranking, or getting our dicks knocked in the dirt by Alabama, Arkansas, and Ole Miss to end the year?

At no point after beating Kentucky, besides beating shitass Vandy, could anyone say “wow LSU basketball looks good” for 3 weeks now. Even in the wins against bottom dwellers (UGA and Mizzou), they looked like arse.

Nothing fires the recruits up like a double digit tournament loss, followed by getting beat by North Texas in front of 500 fans at the PMAC.

For whatever reason we have some people that will defend MM to the last breath. He gets the lowest expectations of any coach at LSU and he either doesn’t meet them or scrapes by and yet we have people here screaming he is great.

I would love to be wrong on him but in the sec a lot of good coaches like Tpear and Oats were able to make the leap to champ level in year 2.

They even did it before the portal.

MM has the portal and we know LSU can recruit but we aren’t doing it well. I’m not sure MM can adapt to the new normal in college athletics

It was but it was right after Carolina. Two actual big wins back to back then fall on our face to end the season.

As is the usual tradition of LSU basketball get big wins then fall over on its face.

One coach has been able to win at any note worthy clip consistently since 1990.

MM ain’t gonna be the next to win consistently here.

Negative momentum is still momentum, I guess.

I get defending him, hell I want him to succeed too. But, I don't and never will play the year zero card I think that's enabling and gives full absolution for a bad year in year one where we got worse as the year went on.

But this year there were some things I did not see last year, some individual development and improvement and some collectively as well, at least beginning with SEC play.

Had you told me before the year we'd go 9-9 in the SEC I'd have taken it, and I still think it is an overachievement...not to a startling degree but an overachievement, nonetheless.

Now I expect progress and improvement next year as I think we all should.
