After Rudy Macklin gets his jersey retired Sat, who's next?

I am surprised Rudy, who was a great and one-time All-American, is getting the royal treatment. Of the company he is with - Pistol, Bob, and Shaq - he's definitely the least talented (which is why it makes sense that it's his turn).
My question is who is next, say 5-10 years from now? I have a list of candidates, but doubt is by all of them. Chris Jackson, had he stayed at LSU one more year and also not turned into an anti-patriotic fool, would have become one easily. Anyway, the other candidates:
Don Redden - Tough because he never averaged 20 ppg and was only great at the end of one season in '86.
Ricky Blanton - Beloved Tiger and gutsy, stand-up guy. However, '89 is his only all-SEC season and he averaged 18 ppg. Not mind-blowing.
John "Hot Plate" Williams - As talented as any of this list, but probably didn't stick around long enough to warrant such acclaim. His questionable "how we arrived at LSU from Los Angeles" probably don't need to be relived.
Vernel Singleton - 4 year starter and much beloved...but stats fall far short, even though he played 4 positions at LSU.
Glen Davis - A very true face of the program type of player who helped lead LSU to a Final 4 and double-doubled often. Still, no 20 ppg seasons and no dominating inside numbers ala Shaq and Stromile, etc...
Stromile Swift - Nope, a year and a half won't cut it
Leonard "Swat" Mitchell - Just a great player without the numbers
Nikita Wilson - "Honeybun" could have been elite instead of great...sitting out due to academics won't help his case. NO chance.
Collis Temple, Jr. - As the first _________ ________ at LSU, perhaps.... Oh, and also owed many thanks for assembling LSU's first final 4 team in 20 years.
Tasmin Mitchell - In 5-10 years, no...but at some point...one day...he must be considered because he's only going to be 1/3 (likely) to score 2,000 points or more in his LSU career.
Greg Cook - Cookie Man and his untimely death should allow him such. Stats and total dominance say otherwise. Not on a superstar level.
Tyrus Thomas - Only 1 terrific year. Imagine if he had 4 of the same. He'd be in line only behind Shaq.
Ronnie Henderson - Dark ages player...stats weren't quite there anyway.
Geert Hammick - Would deserve due to a phenomenal senior season and helped lead LSU to a spot in the big dance. Incredible work ethic once he grew up on the court a bit. Won't happen.
Brandon Bass - Statistically as sound as just about any, but needed 20 ppg/12 rpg stats to even get a thought. Maybe 20 years from now, but he's aos going to have to be back around the LSU community when he retires from the NBA.
Ronald Dupree - Outstanding player and young man...but a bit too quiet for this acclaim. NOt going to happen.
Ethan Martin - Nah. Great Tiger, though.
Maurice Carter - Dark ages have kept him from being known by most LSU fans. Great player. Wrong era to play.
Tack Minor -
Darryl Mitchell - A way down the line sleeper...let's not forget the big shot he hit in Birmingham. As big of a fan favorite as he was, stats aren't there.
Ok, I give up. I just don't think LSU will retire another number. Again, I am surprised with Macklin. I am happy for Rudy, but seriously...there's never likely another Tiger to achieve this for a LONG, LONG while.
Any others suggestions?

marcus thornton would fit in your list, not that he is close, but he should be on your list. (tack minor?)

Very true. Marcus at least deserves to be on that list...but that won't happen.
And Tack was greatness. John Brady told me at the 2003 spring football game that he was going to be a legend.

It should have been CJ by now. Regardless of what he did AFTER he was at LSU, while he was AT LSU, the kid did nothing but play his arse off and was a great face for the program. 2 time All-American, holds the freshman record for highest season scoring record (giving LSU all four years).
Not hanging CJ's jersey is like not honoring Billy Cannon because of what he did after he was at LSU.

Dude, you were in diapers when this guy played. Stats are what they are...just some numbers on paper. There are a lot of other factors that go into achieving greatness. Rudy Mac was "greatness". He deserves this and earned this.

Rudy macklin definitely deserves to have his jersey retired! He was probably the biggest reason Brown and company brought LSU to national prominence! Macklin also was part of the best run of LSU basketball ever! SEC player of the year Senior year, but SO much more than that! He may not have been voted an All-American more than once, but coming from LSU, where other than the greatest, Pistol Pete, and much earlier, Bob Petit, All Americans in Basketball were unheard of. And Macklin also is LSU's all time rebound leader also, if not mistaken, and he was heart and soul of several GREAT teams! Rudy truly deserves the right to have this honor! And then as far as other players, as someone earlier said, the next best player not up there, is DeWayne Scales! Next to Macklin, he was probably one of the biggest reasons for LSU's rise in bball! But also, Ethan Martin was a fantastic player, just ask Kyle Macy of Kentucky what he thought of "The Huck" Martin! And Derrick Taylor was a very very good player, but academics made him sit out a year, and also Scales demise may be that he left a year early for NBA draft, and was the first LSU player to do it. But hell, by todays standards, Scales had a long 3 year career here, and it was a damn good one too! Also, The Cookie Man was as good a center at LSU as maybe anyone. He took no shite from anyone, and he could hit a nice 10 to 12 footer also, but he was the most intimidating defensive center of his time, just ask Sam Bowie of Kentucky what he thought of Cook! Also, Howard Crter was as good a 2 guard as there ever was. He was great, and was very good all 4 years, but was forced to play out of position last 2 years due to others graduating and no other big recruits those couple of years! Kenny Higgs was a big part of LSU basketball lore also, and really started putting LSU on the Map as far as Programs on the rise, in bball!
