...contrasted with years past under Miles, etc. where we often got a delay of game or had to take a timeout. Our players didn't know where to line up, etc.

That difference is huge on offense. A big gain creates huge energy and opportunity to seize momentum - which Canada has evidently corrected.

The offense has some stuff to correct of course, but just this one fact - noticed after just one game - is very encouraging!

Good point - less confusion. Etling looked better than at any time last year too.
Setting up to be a great season

I am pretty excited too but I feel like we had a delay of game.

People seem to forget that.

The players were in shock the big gain happened

True, but I feel like that's infinitely better than taking a delay of game coming out of a timeout.

I recall we got into formation, QB would clap, then the entire offense would stand up and look at the sideline - I hated that. Such an energy drain. You got the defense on their heels - hit them again with another quick play.

A lot of responsibility for execution comes with the QB - and we have a smart capable experienced QB - he can recognize defenses and knows the quick checks. I hope this continues into SEC play - I think it gets a lot harder in the coming seeks.

What I am most pleased with: there is no looking to the side line EVERYTIME they get to the line of scrimmage.

we would simply run the ball, toss dives ect. In 2013. Nothing special, just hurry up and hope the defense is out of position.

By no means am I saying I don't prefer the new system, I'm just saying we've done it before although way more predictable.

There seemed to be a play clock issue on that delay of game though.

The delay of game penalty was a bullshite call, that's why O was arguing it. The 25 second play clock started very quickly after a penalty, Coach O starting arguing with the official when it hit 10 seconds saying it needed to be reset properly. You could see him on tv arguing with the official when it hit 10 seconds, then he argued even more after the call.

In hindsight, should have just called a timeout. We had all 3 in our pocket at that point, save the 5 yards, Learning experience for him.

we do and we have at times in the past. but it seems we simply run up the middle real quick. I have no stats but I do not remember doing this successfully and knock off a real good gainer after the big play. it seems like this is either common place or the opposition has seen it on tape before and is expecting that play on a quick no huddle snap.

it would confuse their D if we did something different, like a pass to the TE or RB; something safe but not up the middle.

It reset but before the signal on the filed was given to reset, we got jobbed out of 8 or 10 seconds.

In 2013, teams respected our passing game...

We did ... but that was to be expected. They have little margin for error when there's multiple shifts. Even when he runs it perfectly, the clock would get down to 3 seconds.

How many times per game did this happen?
