A&M 15-11 6-7
LSU 14-12 6-7

A win tonight goes a long way to having a chance at getting in.

Probably have to go 4-1 and at least 1 SEC tourney win.

Look at our net rating. Much much much worse than A&M.

We bumped up two spots from 87 to 85 with the win against a ranked Kentucky. We’d need a lot more ranked wins.

We lost to too many quad 3 and 4 teams. There’s no way in. NIT bound for sure.

Conference standings mean absolutely nothing in the selection process. A&M has much better metrics than LSU. That’s why they are much closer in the discussion than LSU

Yeah it’s going to be very hard to grab an at large spot. Today’s game is really the only game left that will move the needle at all. Beating bottom feeder teams doesn’t do much at this point

We have to win all 5 games. Jerry palm said we have almost no shot at the moment

We lost 2 of those to be clear. The bigger problem is how many Q4 games they played. 8 is way too many. Add that along with a Q4 loss and a 6-10 record against Q1/2 teams, you’re going to have a shitty NET ranking

Those 2 Q3/4 losses aren’t killers. MSU lost to Southern and Georgia Tech and they are still “in” for now.

LSU’s problem is they don’t have a ton of great wins (particularly non-conference) and they have (right now) a poor record away from home.

Plus, unlike A&M, LSU’s metrics (NET, KenPom, BPI) aren’t good.

Losing hurts it, but this win would be expected from a tournament team. Net probably doesn’t go up much.

We are going to have to do better than that. We probably will need to be in the SEC championship to get realistic consideration. That’s most likely 2 more quad 1 wins on a neutral court. It almost seems at this point that we would have to win the tournament to make it based on the position we are in with the net. It sucks, but we blew it in the non conference. Losses to Syracuse, Kansas st., Dayton, or at least not losing to Nicholls

Probably have to go 5-0 to have a realistic shot at the tourney.

4-1 and maybe you can host some NIT games

Some of you really need to reset expectations, there is no way this team is getting an at large bid to the NCAAT unless we go 5-0 to close out and ALSO win probably 2-3 SECT games. Even then its far from a guarantee. Our NET is incredibly bad (84 right now) and it needs to get much much higher (like at least 20+ spots higher).

Going 4-1 against a slate of not so great teams ahead is not is what is going to vault us into the tournament.

We lost 1 Q3 (1-1) & 1 Q4 (7-1) games. A&M lost 4 Q3 (2-4) and 0 Q4 (5-0)

That isn't the rub. A&M is 6-5 Q1 & 2-2 Q2 (8-7) while LSU is 4-7 Q1 & 2-3 Q2 (6-9).

LSU has 2 Q2 and 3 Q3 games left.

A&M has 1 Q1, 2 Q2, and 2 Q3 games left.

All that favors A&M

We're 84 right now. NET moves almost every day

Yep, I think winning out and 2 SECT games probably gets us looked at, maybe in the first 4, as being a hot team.

I think 4 of 5 puts us hosting an NIT game with the new NIT selection format.

The committee should, but won’t, take into account that LSU was without Jalen Cook and would have beaten Nicholls State.

I still don’t understand the NET. I don’t get what A&M has done to get themselves on the bubble still. Why are they not penalized for losing to some of the shitty teams they have lost to like Vandy and Arky x2? Not to mention them splitting with us. They have 4 good wins against UF, UK, UTk, and Iowa State but I just don’t get it.

An above .500 record against Q1 teams with 6 Q1 wins will give you a nice boost

They are. If not for that those losses they would probably be locks already, but they are just on the outside looking in as of now.
