Incredible. The most damaging 2 wins in the history of CFB.

I am happy for O and pulling for him to rise to the occasion but damn it would have been nice to do just the right smart thing regardless of how we play against an average program in a meaningless game.

right smart thing

For those of us who are not clairvoyant, what would the "smart thing" have been?

You assume the TAMU win was both unexpected and the deciding factor in keeping CEO.

I think that is a bad assumption.

It seems to me that Jimbo and Herman wanting something different than coaching at LSU was the deciding factor. They made the decision for us to get to option 3, LSU did not make it for ourselves.

It's no different than those 9 year old USC fans in the early 2000's now griping about 'LSU getting rid of Saban' as just out of college SJW's today.

Last year - Fire Les last year and get Herman.

This year - Thank O for his service. Pursue an aggressive and complete coaching search for a top 5 CFB coaching opportunity.

Again, I like O and his press conferences are funny and everything. At least Les is gone and we will know whether O has the chops by this time next year.

I think most people expected to beat A&M (and UF for that matter). I also don't think there is anyway that we would have kept O this year if we lost our last two games and he finished 4-3.

You make a good point.

They've twice saved a coach that we didn't want.

And for those of us not clairvoyant, who would you have interviewed?

Well, to be fair, I think this one actually saved LSU from getting a coach named after a hat.

Because Herman was going to Texas unless we came up with money that he hasn't proven himself worthy of yet.

Point taken: it could have had an effect in the reverse.
