Greetings LSU crew,

I'm Kurt, I wrote an article earlier in the week on a new Ducks website fishduck.com ( LINK) that got re-posted here on tigerdroppings.com and dandydon.com (hope it's ok to mention other LSU sites, some Duck sites get picky about that).

Anyway, for our Fishduck website only being a couple weeks old (launched August 3rd) we got the google analytics back, and on Wednesday alone we had over 17,000 page views, far and away our best day yet! The vast majority of this was re-directs from tigerdroppings and dandydon.

I also got well over 100 emails, all from LSU fans and even a couple Arkansas and Auburn fans too, all responding positively without any trash talking or negativity, praising the column and just wanting to talk shop about the upcoming game.

Color me very impressed.
All the interaction thus far with the LSU fanbase that have emailed and I've exchanged posts with on various messageboards have been the epitome of classy, so thank you very much for being such passionate and intelligent football fans.

Like all of you we're all looking forward to this September 3rd game, with or without Harris/Alonso and Shepard/Jefferson. The story lines between Oregon and LSU this past year have been so eerily similar, along with the fact that Crowton left Oregon to go to LSU, it's tough to find a fanbase that will be more sympathetic to the recent issues surrounding your Tigers than Duck fans...it's like looking into a mirror. I guess it's true that misery loves company.

Thanks, and GO DUCKS!

Nice work. It would have been a lot more hits had we not had some issues here. See you on the 3rd.

Each year I'm blown away with the power of this site. I've heard it referenced by a number of national sportswriters.

It is a closet addiction for thousands (not just LSU fans).

Thank you for your reminder about how easy it is to forget what it was like to be 18, 19 or 20. Your point about being judged on you most embarrassing moment really hit home with a lot of people.  Very thought-provoking article, very well written, and something that really needed to be said.  And you said it in a way that most could not.  Best of luck.

I can't imagine how difficult it is for student-athletes today...not just classes and the physical toll, but having to memorize complex playbooks and learn an NCAA rulebook the size of most phone books covering every little thing you CAN'T do.

As coach Chip Kelly has said several times regarding the rule book, "According to NCAA rules, if it makes sense, if it seems reasonable, you can't do it."

Unfortunately we live in an era where everybody has twitter and cameras in their pockets, so the tiniest little error gets out there in public view. I know when I was 18 I made a ton of mistakes in judgment, doesn't make me a bad person, but like everybody I've made mistakes...if I was a student athlete in 2011 doing those things having all of my dirty laundry being aired out on national airwaves, that'd be really tough to deal with.

Hopefully we learn from our mistakes, isn't that the point? That's when I get mad whenever I hear LeGarrette Blount's name forever being associated with his worst moment. Just watch this NFL season, every single Tampa Bay Bucs game where his name gets mentioned time it, it'll be maybe 5 seconds before the word "punch" is used...I mean seriously, one bad moment and that's all people know him for...it's not right.
