Truth be told our long ball game is there already. Short quick plays are no guarantee. Lots of teams stuggle with screens. AND it give Mett some reps without getting killed so we can fix that and be ready for Washington with a healthy Mettenburger. You don't fix stuff during a game usually. This game was to identify areas of concern.

Had we kept going long and mett got hurt because of it everyone would be railing about how stupid the coaches were to do that when LSU could plainly see the protection was breaking down/Mett wasn't picking up the right reads.

Agreed. It may be a nitpick and may sound rantarded but what the hell were they thinking with the option play? Mett is not a runner and rivers hasn't seen a damn play at the collegiate level yet. That was a high risk/EXTREMELY low reward play.

I guess it is there to take away 15 minutes of our future opponents practice time. Or maybe it is because when JR or Bolten comes in we will be doing more of that sort of thing?

Fair enough, but a lot of lateral passes and a few screens doesn't get me all wet inside.

I am sure they want to bring him along slowly, We will always be a run first team. But man... he made a couple of throws that JL or JJ could not have even imagined.. That one on the 3rd and long was a laser, while we didnt get the 1st down, it was a amazing pass.... He will develop and come along fine. I wasnt disapointed at all.

It's called breaking a new Qb in gradually. Build his confidence so that down the road this season he will be ready when called upon.
