Those kids played great baseball and got the ovation that they deserved. I am proud to say that I shook their hands and told them to win in Omaha and he said "Thank you sir. We'll do our best and represent you well. Thank you for being great hosts." The Seawolves deserved that lap. That's a moment they'll never get ever again. Congratulations to them.

Next years team won't be as good as this year so I don't see them going to Omaha

Its classy if you don't seek the attention for doing it. But the LSU fans immediately used this to say "look at me, look at how great I am". Not classy

If you think this you are either young and naive or just really pathetic

well that is exactly what happened, so I guess I am all of the above. Look back at facebook posts and twitter posts of LSU fans patting themselves on the back about how great they are.

Showing class & respect for a great effort by 18-19-20 yr old college kids will never go out of style. What harm was done?

nothing wrong with showing respect for Stony Brook. I am just questioning the motives of the LSU fans for doing it.

There's really no question about motivation here. They did it to make themselves into saints.

I highly doubt any LSU fans lined up on that wall thinking, "Tomorrow I'll put this on FB to show the world we can be classy." Probably more along the lines of "Let's show these kids we appreciate the level of play they brought and wish them luck."

I don't see anything wrong with being proud of those fans who showed grace and appreciation. I wish I had been there to do it myself, not so I could thump my chest and say, "I'm classy" but to shake the hand of a team I wish well in Omaha.

Nah. It was probably along the lines of "I want those guys to go away thinking LSU fans are classy". It was a totally selfish gesture.

I think LSU fans congratulating SB after last nights win was classy and great. LSU has 6 national titles in baseball and has been there before

And some of the fans acted like it. Others bitched and moaned about some fans welcoming a program like SB to this rather exclusive club.

LSU fans have been there enough to understand the honor of going the CWS but not act like a little bitch when they don't get there. Well, some of them. There is always next year.

I don't see why this is even a big topic

I gives props to SBU, they were better and i admit it, but how do our players feel that are crying in the dugout watching their "fans" SMILE and high-five Stoney Brook

They should feel proud to be part of LSU.

I heard McNitt sort of teared up when he was coming off the mound Friday to a standing ovation to the point where he got so caught up in it, he forgot to tip his hat.

I think it's as simple as that. LSU baseball fans can be a classy lot and SB recognized that and wanted to show their appreciation for a great atmosphere and LSU fans appreciated what SB did and wanted to give them a "moment."

Nothing more, nothing less. Nobody got sainted. Nobody crossed a line.

That's just not true. How can you say Alabama didn't deserve to be there? Name one team more deserving of Alabama that should have played LSU in NOLA?

Teams like Stony Brook are the very reason Alabama did not deserve to be in NOLA. Alabama was put in NOLA because of the fricking "eyeball test"

They all said OSU didn't deserve it because Alabama "looked" better. That's fricked up because OSU had a better
resume. They also didn't already fricking lose to LSU on their home field. They weren't even given a shot at LSU even
though the deserved it. Bama had theirs and got beat on their home field.
Now apply the same stupid fricking "eyeball" test to Stony Brook and LSU before the Super Regional. I bet 90% of people would have given LSU the nod in the "eyeball test" before this weekend. That would have undeservingly sent LSU to Omaha without even giving Stony Brook a chance.

This is why OSU should have been given the chance to prove themselves against LSU. Putting Bama in the game proved nothing. Now we just have a bunch of losers claiming a national title that was "won" against a team they were 1-1 against.

If you don't agree with this

I mentioned in the OP that LSU fans greeted me at TS and wished me well in BR on my 09 trip. Ive also been to TS when we lost (2005 and 2007) and had shite thrown on me as I walked out....and people screaming "TigerBait" in my face. I know that every school has dumbass, obnoxious fans....I can weed those guys out.

Of course UF has some stupid fans that are homers and would legalize gay marriage if Tim Tebow would say "I do"....that doesn't mean our entire fan base is laughable. We have some pretty kickass fans if you ask me.

If Alabama had won the game in Tuscalossa by 3 in OT, the BCS would have put LSU in the title game as a re-match.

I didn't know LSU fans really thought this. This is interesting.

What is the reasoning behind this? Do you think the media and pollsters favor Bama over LSU? That they got special treatment that nobody else would have?
