It's a championship caliber unit w a great blend of experience, high end talent, and depth. There are no glaring weaknesses and a very high floor in terms of performance. Could be 'greatest of all time' good, the pieces are there IMO.

The question, as always, is the other side of the ball.......

Thanks for starting this thread.

I am in the small minority, but I prefer Fehoko at NT. Mainly because I have always looked at football (and sports in general) as creating mismatches, and exploiting them.

At D-End, Fehoko has a similar skill set as most other D-Ends playing for big schools. Opposing OTs go against guys like him all the time. But at NT, his quickness usually makes for a mismatch for most opposing OCs and OGs.

Plus, playing him at NT allows Logan to start. And I think I would prefer him on the field over any of the other NT options.

Again, I know most disagree - but that's cool...

I agree with you, putting Fehoko at nose allows Glen Logan to be on the field. Glen needs to be out there.

Guess I'm in the small minority also, assuming everyone's back 100% from their surgeries.

starters/rotation Lawrence - Fehoko - Logan
Farrell - Shelvin - (up for grabs)

That's 6 deep to start the season and keeps Shelvin here at least another year after 2019.

Pretty damn good rotation with plenty of options remaining.

Would Fehoko be big enough to run through an SEC schedule at NT though? I can see a special package where he lines up there, but I'd think he's maybe 20 pounds too small to start all season there.

He played there a lot last year and really wasn’t a great fit, but he managed.

We were better with Alexander

Defense is not the problem. LSU offense line still hasn,t learned to block especially on pass plays!!!

He moved him to DE when Alexander emerged.

I like Fehoko at DE. Rotate Shelvin and Ika at NT and let them wear on OC's and force double teams that allow your ILBs to flow to the ball. Now you have a nice rotation of Lawrence, Logan and Fehoko at DE so they can stay fresh and be more disruptive. Even Farrell should get some snaps at DE. Fehoko could be brought in at NT on obvious 3rd down pass plays to give you a better pass rush.

Orgeron said Ika is going to be on the field this year and he's not starting over Shelvin so I would imagine Fehoko is sliding to DE. Either way it's a nice problem to have. With Chaisson back and Divinity sliding over to the other OLB spot we become a much more disruptive front. Phillips will be racking up tackles and I am confident Queen and Baskerville will do well.

Our DBs will be a nasty bunch too with Fulton, Delpit, Stingley, Stevens, Vincent, Harris and Brooks (5 star) OLB/S.

This could be one of our best defenses in years.

We tend to go peso on more obvious third down.

And I think we’ll do that more with Chaisson back and Divinity being so good pass rushing on blitzes

I thjnk We almost relied a little too much on White blitzing on 3rd down.

He is good but we sent him lmoremoften than not. UGA has a good center and he was just sticking White in that game.

Hopefully on 3rd we see some interesting blitzes with chaissskn back

Yeah, I think blitzing White was more a result of trying to manufacture pressure in Chaisson's absence. With him back I don't think we will see ILB blitzes as often. I do think we may see more blitz packages for Stevens and/or Delpit though.

Aranda likes to go 2 DL and bring blitzes. I just Think we need to spread it out more.

Aranda is big into getting number advantages through scheme.

If he can get 2 OL blocking 1 DL and overloads a size he can get number and advantages without sacrificing coverage.
