Couple things....they didn't bring in a male softball player because the test would then be softball vs softball. Yeah I know. Sounds stupid doesn't it? It's cause it would have been. It wasn't a gender examination. Male softball players who have played both will tell you which requires more athleticism.

Averages are higher in softball. Quite possibly due to the fact that they haven't pussed down the bats and balls like they did baseball. Also, with bases at 60 feet, and the infielders needing to be far closer, lots of "infield" line drives in baseball are base hits in softball.

The boys are definitely stronger and are used to seeing different stuff is all. But the level of athlete playing highly competitive fast pitch today is amazing. Some of you would do well to actually go out and watch a few games.

There was a specific post in the game thread that stated "it's not like they are hitting a 100 mph fastball". Well yeah they kinda are. That was my point. A lot of idiotic responses in the game thread. Just wanted to show that it may be a girls sport but that doesn't mean it's not as competitive or even more competitive than baseball.

Most softball pitchers have 4-5 different pitches so this is inaccurate

Gotcha, I don't follow the game threads so I didn't see that. IMO you can't compare the 2 but that is me. I will say this I do think the difference is arm motion and angle of the pitch release.

Absolutely. I wasn't trying to compare the 2 at all.

and those 4 to 5 pitches would fall under the different stuff baseball guys see on a reguar basis. he wasn't saying softball pitchers don't throw multiple different pitches. They're just different from the types of pitches baseball guys see.
