Seems a little creepy but you do seem to know a good amount about LSU football.

After watching the replays of last year--Any idea on percentage of bubble screens to WR's vs. total pass plays to WR's. Seems like that was our main downfield threat on the passing game.

I also think Mett will have a big year, but with limited video of his game I am not completely sold just yet. Running game will be steady. If mett just gets the plays off in time our offense will have seen an improvement.

I don't have a great feel for that. I would guess about 15%. I remember we scored on bubble screens a number of times, like against Tennessee and Auburn. There was at least one quick inside screen that scored against Arkansas. The Tigers hit some nice long touchdowns against Auburn and UF, I believe, to Reuben Randle. There were other long passes that were catch and run for Tds to Beckham against WVU and UK. But, you remember correctly that LSU threw quite a few of those bubble screens. Randle, Shepard and Beckham were all dangerous on those, and our receivers blocked them pretty well for the most part.

One pass play I didn't see enough of is the wheel route to the RB. Spencer Ware is a good receiver out of the backfield, and I would think Blue and Ford, with their speed, would be good on those.

Hey, I came in first in one of my leagues last year. You can't win them all. How did you do?

It would seem that way. The truth is that I left LSU in 1970 to serve my country. For some 25 years, I could only occasionally see or hear an LSU game. I was working too hard and too long.

With Internet and Cable TV, I began to be able to see more and more of my Tigers starting in the mid 90s. I retired from my job in nuclear operations in 2005. Since then, LSU football is a hobby of mine. I study LSU, the SEC and any upcoming opponents. I get my hands on season tickets, I go to bowl games.

I enjoy becoming knowledgable about our Tigers.

I do play golf, travel quite a bit, read a lot of good books. it's not a bad life for a 62 year old.

youre awesome, frick them

dljtigers,

Just another thought about those bubble screens. Yes the Tigers use them a lot and for more reasons than to expect a big play all the time.

Perhaps the biggest funtion they serve is to keep the defense spread. They also are a pretty easy throw for the QBs to become confortable. Plays like those really discourage blitzers and rushing the QB. I think those bubble screens help with the running game as much as any other purpose.

The truth is that I grew up in KY. I became a Tiger fan when I was 7 or 8 years and saw the Chinese Bandits on TV. I never forgot them and the way they played.

I moved around quite a bit, but we moved to LaPlace in 1968. Even without the move to LA from Delaware, I was going to LSU. My family called LaPlace home for about 20 years, but I spent 8 years in the Navy. Upon returning home, I went back to LSU for one more semester, then moved to KY to be near my Mother's family. I have been living in MN since 1986.

By the way, my friend, Bob, who used to be my Brother-in-law, still lives in LaPlace. He and I share a common background in that we both spent most of our careers in nuclear power generation.

I do love all things Louisiana and really enjoy my visits for the LSU games! You could say that I have been a Tiger fan for 54 years!

Sounds like you have a great life going there. Keep up the solid posts and don't respond to the idiots and they generally get bored and leave the thread. That generally keeps the threads shorter and more focused. Nice work.

Thank you for your kind words.

I really am looking forward to getting down to Tiger Stadium for the games. I already have purchased my airline tix for the Washington, Idaho, Miss State and Ole Miss games. I am hoping to get to the USCe game, as well.

I enjoyed both games in Dallas(Cotton Bowl and Oregon), saw the Tigers' last games in Nashville, Knoxville and Lexington, went to that stupid Cap One mudslinging contest, and never fail to get to at least 5 Tiger games per year. Whenvevr LSU ventures north of Mississippi and Alabama, I will go see them play. Four games in Baton Rouge each year is standard for me. I have really good seats to enjoy the games in Tiger Stadium.

No, no it ain't. Cheers to you, and thanks for posting something about our Tigers that was actually worth reading about and for cheerfully taking the abuse that was sure to come.
