A few thoughts on my Cotton Bowl trip

Stayed downtown, walked to see the 6th Floor museum. Amazing to see a place where events happened that changed the world. Had a fabulous dinner at Del Frisco. Met some great Tiger fans tailgating in Lot 14. Was completely impressed with the Jerry Dome and the staff there. Didn't encounter a single rude employee. Made it on the jumbotron a couple of times. Was incredibly proud of the guy in the crown and purple tunic, very noble looking!
Overall, I'd do it all again.

The aggies were very full of themselves. You would have sworn they were the team that won two national championships in the last decade.

quote:Apparently we went to different stadium. It was an absolute disorganized mob getting in the stadium, mainly due to poor planning on the facilities management. It took 45 minutes to get in the stadium, and the crowd got fairly ugly at times as people tried to cut in line. None of the employees were rude, they just didn't know anything, and they lent to the situation in which disorganization and chaos reigned.

Not us.
There was a small line to get frisked, about four people deep.
My podnuh asked one of the staff members where the nearest restroom was and he whipped a map and showed my friend exactly where it was.
I didn't see any confusion or despair.

i was at the saints game on Thanksgiving...the line at one gate was RIDICULOUS, but we walked to the next gate and there was almost no wait. employees watching the line didn't provide any info. sounds like they need to do something about that

This. But everything else was perfect. Barely waited in line both times I went to get food and when I went to the bathroom.
Had some very unintelligent aggies behind me though. After every play "Come on, ref, that was a penalty."
Anyone else see the fight in the 3rd level, corner endzone LSU side?

Stadium was impressive, but not anymore than Reliant Stadium in Houston except for the huge hd screen. Very good waitress talent in C333 and Jerry robs us on the mixed drinks!

Stadium is first class. Employees were very helpful and smiled at everyone. Parking (Lot 4) was fantastic. Only complaint was how load the sound system was and the "souvenir" cups were lame - they had enough time to put the teams on the cups. Otherwise, great place to attend a bowl game.

Best bowl game trip ever!

May be off topic but what is the sixth floor museum? Is it the JFK shoting?

Stayed at the Hilton Gardens DFW-decent place
Humperdink's was overloaded. Fair to say the assistant managers and cooks were serving food and even bussing the tables.
Weather was decent. Wait until Monday and Tuesday for some rough stuff.
Stadium was first class.
Employees there were helpful and courteous.
Parking lots were very clean.
Impressed with Spencer Ware.
Found a great little restaurant for breakfast in Corsicana on the way back.
Renewed enthusiasm for the 2011 Tiger Football Team.
All of the crew arrived home safely.

quote:I wouldn't call seeing Dealey Plaza was "amazing". It seemed more eerie---almost ghastly to be able to stand in the street where a U.S. president was assassinated. The museum was very well put together.

The stadium is certainly a wonder. The seats in 243 seemed very far from the field. Wouldn't want to sit in anything in the 400's for sure. Agree about the stadium staff. All were very helpul and courteous. Lines at the concession stands moved quickly with a good selection. Can't say that about the lines in the restrooms. This was the only time I've ever seen men's restroom lines out the doors while the women didn't appear to be backed up.
Didn't enocounter any rude or unruly Aggie fans. I prefer the Georgia Dome over Cowboy Stadium. But it was still a fantastic trip and fine way to wrap up the season.

Yes, the building known to the world as the Texas School Book Depository is some sort of county administration building now. The sixth and seventh floors are now a museum.
Maybe amazing isn't the word you would use, but it was a place I have wanted to see since I was a little boy.

Stayed at Double tree right next to team hotel, very very nice, and affordable. Dallas is an amazing town. DID the mavs game, as we exited got on local tv station, which films news right outside stadium. Had dinner uptown at Perry's saw 4 Masseratti's not a single bum the entire trip, wasn't panhandled a single time. Very safe and clean downtown. Dallas is big, clean and there is lots to do! The Oregon game is going to be a week long trip with Golf, a rangers game and a visit to the Ghost BAR! FO SHO
